The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition

Today Bethesda announced a collector’s edition for Skyrim and detailed the extra’s that will come along with the package.

The first of which is label “Alduin Statue,” which is a collector’s statue that stands approximately 30 cm tall and is made of high quality polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Alduin, the World Eater, is a dragon perched upon one of the many dragon walls in the game that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.

You also get the “Art of Skyrim,” an official art book for the game featuring over 200 pages of full-color illustrations, sketches, and models. This book showcases the characters, creatures, environments, and weaponry of Skyrim. Within the book itself you’ll find commentary from Bethesda’s studio artists, guiding you through the game’s unique art style.

Oh, and you’ll also get one of those “Making of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” DVD’s, which will of course contain all of that behind-the-scenes footage to show you how Skyrim went from concept to creation.  

“We always say that we make the games we want to play. We can also say we create the collector’s editions we’d want to own,” said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks.  “We all want one of these!”  

Now I’ve never been much of a collector’s edition guy, but that’s really because I don’t feel like the item’s really hold enough value to be worth the extra cash, although in Skyrim’s case I might have to make an exception. With this game’s absolute brilliance already anticipated, I feel like this is the collector’s edition you want to own.

It’s not as bizarre as some of the collector’s editions that have come out, like GTA IV for example, but it’s straightforward, which is all that is really necessary when your game does the talking.
