Final Fantasy XIII-2

Simply put, my two favorite games of all time are Final Fantasy VII and X, but Final Fantasy has changed a lot throughout the years.

To counteract being stale and repetitive, Square Enix has ditched the more conventional RPG structure of past Final Fantasy games. They tried a plethora of ideas to remain innovative, from being able to see agro on screen, real time battles, to several different combat systems.   

What has always remained true in Final Fantasy is the goal of delivering a mature, emotional experience, and compelling story that can’t be found elsewhere.

With all of this said, the last few Final Fantasy games have been a huge letdown to me. For me it is all about character progression and the freedom to make your character personalized to your play-style. I feel the last few games dropped the ball as far as RPG elements are concerned. Neither did they have a story so great that it made it worth putting up with the sub-par gameplay.

So, I really don’t have a choice but to look forward with optimism that Square Enix is going to take care of this series and eventually return it to its former glory.
