E3 Expo 2011
Far Cry 3
One of the biggest announcements of E3 this year was Far Cry 3.
What impressed me the most about the game wasn’t lighting, dynamic shadows, gameplay, or anything of the sort. Not to say these things weren’t impressive, because they definitely are, but what blew me away was the antagonist for the game.
I was able to spot an interview with the game’s producer Dan Hay, and one thing he said that struck me was that when they were creating the antagonist for Far Cry 3 they tried to imagine what a person would be like without rules. This is an island where there are no laws or restrictions, so the purest of human evils can be fleshed out.
This notion really comes through in the main antagonist for the game. Personally, I find him to be really disturbing, yet intriguing at the same time. With games like L.A. Noire setting the bar for in-game characters, it looks like Far Cry isn’t going to disappoint in that area.
There is no official release date for the game besides the open window of 2012.
