E3 Expo 2012
I’ve always had a soft spot for mechs, but most mech simulators have been a letdown. From Armor Core to Mechassult, to Chromehounds, I’ve always been at least partially disappointed with all of them.
I suppose I never felt they actualized the potential of giant robots fighting. The good news is, it’s the year 2011, and videogames are at a point where realistic mech combat is possible. This is apparent with developer Adhesive Games and their upcoming game Hawken.
In most cases, mech games have been rather sluggish and have never quite kept up with the fluidity of most competitive shooters. Not only does Hawken look fast paced, but it looks highly competitive.
The H.U.D. looks stunning, and the metropolitan environments are highly detailed. I’m really excited to play this game; it looks like a dream come true for all you giant robot fans.
