First Person or Third Person
There’s almost an equal amount of good first-person and third person games on the market now.
Of course, each perspective lends itself better to certain genres; first person is really common in shooters, and third person is more popular in adventure type games.
And naturally, there’s always those that break the molds, and nothing says that a third-person shooter or a first person adventure game can’t be successful.
Look at Gears of War, a 3PS. Or Portal 2, a first-person game wherein the only gun is one that’s only purpose is to solve puzzles. Then there’s games like Fallout, which let you choose between first person and third person, which can be a significant advantage if one view doesn't give you a broad enough scope of a level.
Personally, I find myself more immersed in the world when I’m playing in first person. I like that even if I know the character whose eyes I’m looking through, it still feels like it’s me exploring the world and experiencing the events.
So, what do you guys prefer? Or do you not care so long as the perspective fits the game?

cool!
I play more FPS, but I don't mind fixed camera 3rd person as long as it doesn't always block your view of what is going on. So I was fine with Mass Effect and Monday Night Combat but I did have an issue with the first Dead Space as the around a third of the screen was taken up with a guys back. Any non-fixed camera 3rd person games depend on how the camera functions, if it's bad then the game suffers, but if it's good then you get a better view of the terrain and feel more in control. Each needs to be suited to the game itself, for example a 3rd person view in counter strike that lets you see round corners would be totally out of place.
