Capcom Serves Up Zombie Cafe Social Game for iOS

Good help is hard to find, especially in the food service industry. We’ve all had at least one run-in with a brain dead waiter who forgets to refill your drink, brings out the wrong order or openly flirts with your date. Capcom Mobile’s latest sim game promises to dish out a different kind of dining experience. In the aptly titled Zombie Cafe, you must prepare food, manage supplies and direct an entire waitstaff of the undead, all without losing your mind -- or your tasty brains.

As a new player in the restaurant game, you’ve made a deal with a nefarious biotech corporation to use zombie slave labor to help launch your cafe empire. To increase staff, you can transform high-maintenance patrons or bad tippers into zombie waiters. Like any other master, though, you must always be ready to squelch a revolt at the first sign of discontent. If you work your zombies too hard, they will stop serving and start eating your customers, which lowers your restaurant’s star rating.

In addition to overseeing your team of shambling servers, you can collect and cook more than 50 zombie-inspired recipes such as Handburger and Flies and the toothsome Sloppy “Joe.” The store features over 100 items with which to decorate your growing cafe, from tables and chairs to wall coverings, with additional content already in development for future updates. And when times get tough, you can always send a posse of zombie workers to raid neighboring cafes, steal their secret recipes and ransack their restaurants.

If most of this is sounding suspiciously similar to Cafe World, you’re not far off the mark. Zombie Cafe allows you to connect with your Facebook friends to form a franchise. This functionality lets you order food, collect fees and share recipes with other players. As in Zynga’s restaurant game, you can also earn bonuses for logging in and preparing food each day. Hopefully Capcom will consider implementing Open Feint or Game Center in its next update so users can add more friends.

The game itself is free to install and play, but players can expedite the growth of their cafe by purchasing downloadable content -- namely toxin, which is a special power-up that allows you to speed recipe preparation and level up more quickly.

Zombie Cafe is now available for download in the App Store for all iOS users.
