The Jeep COD: Black Ops Edition
We've all seen the WWII newsreels of the old reliable Jeep in action, a sturdy go-anywhere "General Purpose" GP "Jeep" that carried our soldiers to victory. Jeeps were used by every division of the U.S. military and supplied to every infantry regiment. Jeeps were the workhorse of the solider used in cable laying, saw milling, as fire fighting pumpers, field ambulances, tractors, and with special wheels could even run on railway tracks. Well that was then and WoW how things have changed.
Once again the popularity of gaming has influenced our culture in a good way. The COD: Black Ops Edition Wrangler, built in partnership with Activision, will be on a showroom floor near you soon with a base price of $30,625. This new ride comes with a unique Call of Duty graphics package designed to please the warrior in you. The real world Black Ops package, the overall look and feel, is designed to emulate the virtual Jeeps that you drive in the game. Built on the base Wrangler Rubicon package, the unit comes with a Mopar fuel-filler door, tail lamp guards, and 32-inch black Rubicon wheels. Optional mounted 50 Cal, grenade launchers, and IED package sold separately. State & Local restrictions may apply.
What works for me is that this wasn't an after-market gimmick. Knowing a good thing when they see it, Jeep and Activision hooked up on the front end and made this happen. And this speaks volumes about how the gaming industry continues to attract new partners. From Hollywood, from the music industry, and now they've taken a feature right out of the game and put it in your driveway. Have a look; Jeep has tricked out a site just for the COD package. http://www.jeep.com/en/callofduty/ As the gaming industry continues to evolve we’re likely to see many more cross industry collaborations such as this.
Question is, is this really a good thing, or just another scheme to make money? Well, of course it’s all about the money, but this gamer says yes to the effort. Anything that brings a bit of the better parts of gaming fantasy into the real world gets my vote and Kudos to Jeep and Activision for bringing these two industries together.
Collaboration is all well and good, but I'm still looking for that first light saber to come out.

That's... I just hope they have really gone for the true single player Black Ops experience and have strobes and blinding lights randomly turn on while you are driving. And of course it is just to make money, Activision are involved, that's all they care about.
