Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead™ 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.

You’ll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you’ll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.

You’ll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You’ll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

Helping to take L4D’s frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you’ll fight through and the pathways you’ll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

Be sure to pick up a copy November 17th on Xbox® 360 or Steam®, and discover for yourself how much fun a zombie apocalypse can be:

- Next generation co-op action gaming from the makers of Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike.

- Over 20 new weapons & items headlined by over 10 melee weapons – axe, chainsaw, frying pan, baseball bat – allow you to get up close with the zombies

- New survivors. New story. New dialogue.

- Five expansive campaigns for co-operative, Versus and Survival game modes.

- An all new multiplayer mode.

- Uncommon common infected. Each of the five new campaigns contains at least one new "uncommon common" zombies which are exclusive to that campaign.

- AI Director 2.0: Advanced technology dubbed “The AI Director” drove L4D’s unique gameplay – customizing enemy population, effects, and music, based upon the players’ performance. L4D 2 features “The AI Director 2.0” which expands the Director’s ability to customize level layout, world objects, weather, and lighting to reflect different times of day.

- Stats, rankings, and awards system drives collaborative play

- Support for split screen play (Xbox 360 version only)

This is the main game, in which you must progress through 5 different campaigns, each with either 4 or 5 levels. In this long journey to safety you will pass through burning buildings, infested swamps and roller coasters riddled with infected.

Campaign is the same as singleplayer however it allows you to play with friends online or search for groups.

Want to try your hand at inflicting some damage of your own on the survivors? Well you can with versus mode, you can spit, choke, pounce and charge them. The objective here is to see which side can get the furthest through a campaign, each side takes turns and the side which gets the furthest over the entire campaign wins.

Scavenge is a new game mode added to the Left 4 Dead series. In Scavenge you pit yourself against an opposing team in which you must collect more gas tanks than the opposition. As you take turns you get the opportunity to play as either infected or a survivor.

Realism is almost exactly the same as the campaign mode, however there are a few slight differences. Such as no, see through walls for survivors and infected alike. Also you don't have any pop up's or tool tips as you play. All 'distractions' are removed and it is generally harder to keep track of your teammates.

If you have played survival in Left 4 Dead then you will know what this mode involves. If you haven't then it is basically a stop watch exercise in which you must survive as long as you can without dieing. This is a challenge and can be quite addictive to achieve gold in each level.

Dead Center is set in an unknown city within the USA. An outbreak has occurred turning the population into zombies. You must try to escape. Trying to make your way through streets, malls and a burning hotel. Making your escape is a challenge.

You start on the roof of a burning hotel. The so called rescue you went there for is now long gone. You must get to the ground floor to escape. Be careful of fire and high falls on your way.

After leaving the burning building, you arrive on the streets. You must try to progress through this zombie infested part of town. Be careful, although there is a lot more breathing room now, that just means more places for hordes to come from.

Now 'safely' inside with promises of a quick rescue from CEDA you must traverse the mall, with escalators, department stores and corridors to navigate. Once a place to relax, now a place to escape from.

You have not found CEDA but you have found another way to escape from the mall from hell. You must fill up the gas tanks of this once famous car to make your quick getaway. This like everything so far is easier said than done.

After the big escape from the Mall you set off on the road, only to get stopped later on by miles and miles of deserted vehicles. You are near Whispering Oaks, a deserted theme park. You must try and get to safety by making your way through rides, love tunnels and runaway roller coasters. Your destination is the same but all you know is that this is not a place for fun anymore (Unless you have a chainsaw that is.).

Stuck with miles of deserted vehicles in your path you must make your way to the nearby Whispering Oaks theme park for rescue. Be careful though this is not a walk in the park, you must navigate the freeway and a eerily deserted and not completely deserted motel.

After your big entrance to this once fun filled and full theme park, you start the daunting task of maneuvering through deserted rides and attractions.

You have left the fun-fair and now you arrive in the tunnel of love, you must navigate these narrow and confined tunnels to safety. Once out you are confronted with a wooden rickety roller coaster. You must set off this once popular thrill ride to make your escape. You must be quick and efficient when it comes to making your escape as the coaster does more than make a noise.

After that brief escape with certain death by coaster you now enter the Barns. This may look like an easy level to achieve as you can see at one point your escape but be careful there is usually a witch or tank hiding in the shadows ready to cut you down. With the concert and the promised escape in sight you make your way to the arena entrance. All that stops you is a ticket booth with turnstiles. Setting off the entrance to open to the public you trigger a horde and you must make your way through the masses to escape. This is much harder than it seems and sticking together is the key here.

With the end in sight you make your way to the stage where once the Midnight riders once played. To make the rescuer aware of you, you trigger off the lighting and pyrotechnics that would have been used to entertain the masses. This not only attracts the rescue but also masses of infected. You must hold out while the helicopter comes to your rescue then escape.

Finding yourself in a train by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere you must make your way on foot. The helicopter pilot turned nasty and you had to bail out. In the deep south you must traverse through swamps and shanty towns with little or no end in sight. Passing crashed planes and deserted towns to safety, you eventually make your way to a deserted plantation mansion. Once there you must call for escape and hope it arrives before the hordes get you.

Stepping foot off the train you are immediately faced with a sign made by the local resident's "NO CEDA-NO MILITARY STAY OUT!". Making your way through the abandoned houses and shacks you make your way to the river where you must set off the crossing ferry. While waiting to cross you will be attacked by hordes who are allerted by the noise. Be careful though if you fall in the water you are as good as dead.

After exiting the tunnel which played host to your escape you must now set foot in the deep swamps, here you will find crashed airliners and mud men galore. Be careful not to venture too far away from your teammates as the water is harder to walk in and progress is slow. Any false move in here and you will go down quick. What's worse is the poor visibility due to swamp fog and the vast amounts of plant life.

You are getting close now, almost out of this stinking muck, you head into the shanty town with many wooden walkways and overgrown buildings. Getting dragged off or knocked off these can prove deadly, also be careful of your footing one false move and splash!

No more swamp, no more mud men and no more deserted shacks. You head towards the house which once controlled the plantations. Making your way to the rear you find a radio, contacting it a Cajun boat captain named Virgil answers your call. While you wait for rescue you must try and keep the hordes at bay. Once the big gates open to the mighty Mississippi river you clamber to the boat and to rescue, now onwards to New Orleans.

Just when you thought you were out of trouble and on your way to a quick getaway. Virgil announces you need more fuel to make it all the way to New Orleans. This means making an unscheduled stop at a town riddled with zombies and witches. To make things worse it is looking like a torrent of rain is about to flood the entire area making your job even harder.

Once off the boat you realize you have left your weapons behind, you then make your way through the zombie infested streets and backyards to safety. The gas station where you are heading is 2 miles away on foot and in this weather and with lots of places to get ambushed from it is not an easy task.

Once off the streets you are faced with your next challenge, an abandoned sugar-mill. This once busy and thriving factory has now been overrun and derelict. If dark rooms crowded with broken walkways and machinery wasn't bad enough the place is infested with witches, one shot or movement in the wrong direction spells disaster. To make matters worse you must set off an elevator to make your way to the almost in reach gas station. The last part of this journey is probably one of the hardest parts as you have to carefully navigate through a corn field with zero visibility. Once out you are presented with your prize the much needed gas tanks. Now to head back the way you came.

You thought that the journey here was hard enough, it's about to get a whole lot harder on the way back. The rain has been picking up and has started to flood areas. The reduced visibility and noise makes it even more difficult to spot and avoid witches. Following along the route you came you must try and stay high and dry as much as possible. This is done by climbing and jumping from gantry to roof to ledge. Once out of the creepy factory you start back to the boat.

The town now a giant water feature has been flooded by the downpour, this will make your journey slower. However sticking to roof tops and keeping on other obstacles will make it easier and quicker, although some infected might try their hardest to break you up and drag you into the water.

Having finally reaching the fast food restaurant you set off from you must alert Virgil to your arrival. Switching on the 'Burger Tank' sign you must fight and wait for rescue.

Now after many obstacles you are on the last leg of your journey. You arrive in New Orleans by the abandoned waterfront. Confronted with infected and some you haven't seen before you must make your way to the rescue on the other side of the river. Traversing though parks, rescue points once for evacuation, cemeteries and the famous Quarter section of the city you have one chance to get to the rescue chopper on the other side.

Saying goodbye to Virgil you are faced with a city filled to the brim with infected, making your way through the city streets you arrive at the first safe room, this being a brief taster of whats to come.

Not long to go but you have to go through the park, once a place for picnic baskets and laughing children now a place for feast of a different kind. If you manage to escape this maze you arrive near a CEDA evacuation point. Exiting a check point set up by CEDA you trigger an alarm, the only way to switch it off is to run through the series of check points and climb the watch tower set up to keep an eye on any possible infected. Once switched off and now the majority of the hordes are at bay you make your way though the bus depot, making it one more step towards rescue.

Starting under the freeway making your way to the end near the bridge is the challenge. Passing through burnt-down buildings, sewers and a cemetery brimming with infected you make your way to the other side.

Almost there, not long to go now, this is probably one of the hardest parts in your journey. The cities Quarter is a historic part of New Orleans, but the buildings, roads and alleyways are easy places to get lost and stuck if you aren't careful. One object which will get in your way is an abandoned Carnival Float which is the only way to cross to the last section of this part of town. This inevitably alerts a horde, be prepared to fight and stick together. Once out of the maze of buildings you arrive at the base of the bridge near the mouth of the Mississippi.

One last push to the end, it seems like you are in luck as the last chopper out of town is about to leave, you must make it accross the bridge to safety. Not an easy task, this narrow and crowded passage is full of vehicles and pleanty of opportunities to fall or get pushed. Making it to the other side and through another abandoned and wrecked evacuation point you clamber onto the chopper and to safety. Just as you take off leaving the hordes and rambling zombies behind the army destroys the bridge...
