Frogster hits the ground running in Asia

Official release of Runes of Magic in Korea

Frogster’s success title, Runes of Magic, has officially launched in Korea. With the opening of the Item Shop, Frogster has today gone live with the commercial release of its fantasy title in the motherland of online games. In the course of an intensive beta phase, the subsidiary company Frogster Asia was able to enthral a good 100,000 Korean players with the fantasy game world – with a strongly upward trend. The successful release marks the first time Frogster has carried a title over into commercial live operation in Asia and in doing so has completed its strategic entry into this important growth market, already planned since 2006.

Following the official release of Runes of Magic in Korea, Frogster is now, with North America, Europe and Asia, present on all three market relevant continents. “With an initial campaign that accompanied the beta phases in high profile Korean gaming media, we have just begun the roll-out of Runes of Magic. We are very confident that we can develop Runes of Magic into one of the strongest titles in the new generation of online-games in Korea”, offered Sunny Park, CEO of Frogster Asia, confident regarding the long-term success of Runes of Magic.

Together with the marketing of Runes of Magic in Asia, Frogster Asia is also working intensively on a redesign of the Chronicles of Spellborn at present. In Japan, the new version including an Item Shop has already started into a closed beta test. Frogster Asia plans to publish the free-to-play version in the first quarter 2010 in Korea with optimised game design and considerably re-worked game mechanics. Along with the marketing rights for Korea and Japan, Frogster also owns the Spellborn licenses for China, Taiwan, Singapore and further Asiatic markets.

Runes of Magic has already gathered well over 2 million registered players worldwide. On 15^th September 2009 Frogster launched a French and Spanish version of the fantasy game world along with the launch of the German, English and US versions of 'Chapter II - The Elven Prophecy'. Shortly following on from this milestone, the Russian version of Runes of Magic went into commercial operation.
