FIRST OFFICIAL TRAILER RELEASED FOR FRONTIER THEMED VIDEOGAME, PIONEERING: EXPLORE THE EARLY AMERICAN WEST
Debra Sack posted this item on Sep 8, 2009

Independent PC developer, The History Forge (http://www.thehistoryforge.com), have today unveiled the debut trailer for their forthcoming frontier life sim, Pioneering: Explore the early American West on their official website. Set during the opening year of the American Revolution, Pioneering: Explore the Early American West places gamers into the shoes of a settler struggling to survive the rigors of western life. From marriage, to property ownership, and even war, Pioneering offers players a number of alternative routes and means to play this open world adventure game. A demo of the game is currently being readied for release to the public ahead of the games launch, due by the end of September 2009.

Each episode of the Pioneering series is a self contained adventure game featuring around 2-4 hours of game play. Priced at $6.00 per episode, the Pioneering series aims to bring the experience of frontier life to PC gamers across the world throughout the remainder of 2009. The first episode, Explore the Early American West, is set during the chaotic and historically significant days of the American Revolution and features, in addition to its core game play, an authentic world developed from documentary sources and even includes quotes from firsthand accounts of the old, old west. Unlike other videogames that seek to create interactive versions of movies based upon history, The History Forge instead aims at producing a catalogue of accessible, fun to play titles that instead give players some sense of the actual history of their given periods, not the myths that have developed around them. Moral choices, optional quests, marriage, and warfare are all features of Pioneering: Explore the Early American West that supplement and give depth to the history that underpins this easy to pick up role playing adventure.

The debut trailer for Pioneering: Explore the Early American West can be viewed at http://www.thehistoryforge.com where a new forum has also just been launched. Further announcements concerning the release of this episode in the Pioneering series will be released in the very near future. Pioneering: Explore the Early American West is being developed exclusively for windows based PCs.

About The History Forge: The History Forge Ltd is an independent developer and publisher of niche titles based upon actual historic periods or episodes.
