Your final chance to shape the Golden Joystick Award shortlists
Debra Sack posted this item on May 20, 2009

More than a quarter of a million votes from gamers have helped shape the 27th Annual Golden Joystick Awards and you still have a chance to make your choices count.

Voting for the opening stage of the world’s favourite gaming awards closes on Friday 22nd May at 1pm BST. Get over to www.goldenjoystick.com now and have your say. Votes cast before then directly shape the finalists across 15 gamer-voted categories.

With a record-breaking haul of votes – many of the categories are still too close to call, with dozens of potential shortlist nominees jostling for recognition. You still have the chance to make sure your favourite games, publishers and retailers get the praise they deserve by casting your all-important votes.

The Golden Joystick Awards have been the ultimate accolade in gaming since 1982. The Joysticks are the real deal, voted for by those who matter – gamers themselves. There are no judging panels or shady looking suits deciding who picks up a prestigious Golden Joystick – the number one choice from gamers will win.

In 2008, gamers cast thousands of votes for the likes of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero III and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Will 2009 see the latest Call of Duty game walk away with another armful of awards? Should Killzone 2, Halo ODST and FIFA make it into the rankings this year? Can Nintendo translate DS sales into victory for Professor Layton? Only you can decide, because it's only your votes that count.

Growing bigger and better every year, the Golden Joystick Awards attracted over 850,000 votes in 2008 and with YOUR support – it looks set to be even bigger in 2009.
