Football Superstars Overview:
An online MMO game for the PC, Football SuperStars will immerse players in a utopian soccer-styled virtual world and take part in 3, 5, 7 and 11-a-side football matches. Players will take control of a single footballer and will interact on and off the pitch, living the football superstar lifestyle whilst pursuing fame, glory and success, striving to join the best clubs, competing at the highest level and progressing within the game through skill and sporting prowess. The player will exist in a persistent football-themed world and be able to join or form their own teams and manage their careers whilst engaging in various leagues.
Football Superstars is a massively multi-player online (MMO) game based on the immensely popular sport of football. Football Superstars is the first MMO to recreate the game of football and its associated lifestyle. Thousands of players within a huge online persistent world compete to become a football superstar leading to on- and off-pitch glory, fame and luxury.
You control one player, rather than an entire team and develop your player's career from your first days at a football academy all the way to stardom as a member of the first team of a successful premier club. Along the way you must train, develop your talent, learn new skills, tricks, abilities and use these new found abilities on and off the pitch to further your football career.
Interact with a world full of real human opposition, make allegiances, form clubs, create private competitions, or just show off with a kick-about with friends on the beach. Communicate with any other member of the game world using headsets or in-game chat.
Ultimately, you can enjoy the glory and fame of playing with the best players in the world, competing in a faithful representation of leagues, cups and eventually the glories of the world cup.
Features:
Everyone has a number of attributes that make them human: from strength to spatial awareness. Improve these at one of the training or sports centres to gain your competitive edge. As you progress through your career as a footballer your potential to improve these attributes advances, becoming more important to your football skills as you gain experience.
Football ability is defined by a number of skills, such as ball control, tackling and strength. Each skill improves slightly every time you pull off a successful application of that skill; defend your goal from the opposition and see your tackling skill rise, penetrate the defence of your archrivals and be rewarded with increased ball control. Players will develop their skill simply by playing football. As with any activity, the more you perform, the better you become. Just don't pick up any bad habits along the way and remember, play to win!
Every famous footballer has a number of tricks or talents up their sleeve for beating the opposition, from the Cryuff turn to a step-over, or calling on your last remaining stamina to get a burst of speed to reach that perfectly placed through ball. As you advance through the game players will get the chance to learn from hundreds of different tricks and talents. Many of these will be available to anyone; others may require you to prove your worthiness to a special trainer...
For the statisticians amongst you, it doesn't take a great deal of imagination to realise that with all these skills, tricks and talents it's possible to get a huge range of information about each individual player. This will allow you to hone particular areas of your game and to choose your teammates carefully. We track every action a player makes on the pitch and then aggregate these results building a powerful profile for every individual.
Fancy yourself as the best mid-fielder ever? Check out your match history panel and see for yourself, you may be surprised with what you find...
You'll be able to review these statistics in an easy to understand panel, giving you at a glance detail on your most successful areas on the pitch. Maybe you're meant to be a defender after all?
So what opportunities for advancing these skills and talents will be available in Football Superstars?
There will be three initial modes of match available to players. From casual non competitive matches to seasonal challenges in the FS Club leagues, the choice is yours. Alternatively you can form your own club and challenge others using the Player Managed Club system.
Scattered around the Football Superstars towns and cities you will find pitches ready to play on. These pitches allow an individual or group of players to test out new tricks and talents or just show off their skills against others. Kick-about games will be non competitive and thus not result in the players receiving pay, but they will allow you to improve your football ability whilst you wait for that big match.
At the start of your life in Football Superstars you will be given the opportunity to join any number of fictitious professional clubs. These clubs continually battle to be top of the seasonal leagues, paying their players well for success. There are also a number of divisional leagues to climb through. Starting in the fourth division, your goal is to get promoted through the leagues. You'll then be given the chance to play for a first division team, opening greater opportunities to improve your celebrity profile and of course, receive greater pay cheques!
After re-living those high moments again and again from when you thrashed that previously unbeatable team, you'll soon want to form more structured alliances with players you met through kick-about and FS club matches. In Football Superstars you'll be able to create your own Clubs, design your teams' home and away strips and recruit real people into your club to challenge other managers.
Shout at the sidelines, take part in seasonal PMC challenges or create your own league fixtures and organise player created tournaments. Have your scouts review potential recruits using the powerful replay system before offering them an incentive to join your club, but be sure your coach is keeping on top of your players training activities...
Football Superstars is scheduled for launch in the summer of 2008.
