Gunroar is a scrolling shooter game where you control a ship moving forward through a highly abstracted sea with islands, sinking ships of various sizes. The game is split in sections, and there are a number of small and medium sized ships to encounter before a large boss ship covering the length of a whole screen.

Besides the normal game (which can be played either with the keyboard, or the mouse), there is a double play mode where there are two ships, both controlled with the same keyboard, and a turret in between them, which can be played either by one person, or two.
