Myth War II - An Interview with SpawnPoint
Today’s interview will be conducted by Joe Rosa with Sakura Yu, Product Manager of Myth War II, who represents IGG games. We will be discussing their most recent release, Myth War II. MW 2 is a free to play MMORPG that is expected to deliver a fantastic, immersive gaming experience while catering to gamers who would prefer a cost free way to interact with other gamers.
Joe Rosa: One of the most addicting features in the MMORPG world has to be the PvP systems. Players do love finding ways to do war with one another whether in 1v1 encounters, or on a grand Guild vs Guild scale. Does Myth War II offer this type of PvP to its subscribers?
Sakura Yu: Myth War II (http://mw2.igg.com) has a very sound PVP system. There are two types of PVP available in the new version, Player vs Player and Party PVP. The PVP system also allows players to force others into PVP, in so doing a player who is killed can get revenge or have a brother or spouse take revenge for them.
However, we wanted to balance the need for a realistic setting with revenge and feuds with the need to keep bloodthirsty players from having too much fun, so we’ve also added the “Evil Index”. Players can have different Evil Index levels and titles to match how evil they are. Players who PVP too much can even be imprisoned. The prison system and prison break system were also subsequently developed to deal with this. There is also a duel system in the game to allow players to have friendly private matches.
Joe Rosa: Will PvP offer rewards that offer server wide acknowledgement and recognition, or even just a chance to improve attributes, gear or both?
Sakura Yu: Well, PVP in Myth War II (http://mw2.igg.com) is conducted in two different ways. Players can either force others into PVP or invite them to have a fair duel. Choosing either of them will affect players’ Evil Index and their server wide acknowledgement and recognition.
Players’ Evil Index will go down if they force others into PVP. When their Evil Index is reduced to between 101 and 249, their characters will be given the title of ‘Infernal Advocate’. When their Evil Index reaches 0 to 100, their characters will be given the title ‘Devil's Executioner’. These titles will make the owners much less popular.
Besides, players can go to the Teleporter in Woodlingor to have a fair duel with other players by taking part in the Kung Fu Competition. Winners will get their Kung Fu Points increased. Every week we will pick the top 10 players based on their Kung Fu Points to reward them with titles and gold. The top three among these ten will get a chance to boast of their achievements for the whole week. This is how players become famous and win server wide acknowledgement and recognition through fair dueling.
PVP in Myth War Ⅱ (http://mw2.igg.com) does nothing to power level character’s attributes. It is only used to help players win reputation.
Joe Rosa: What aspects of your guild system will attract players towards joining an alliance, rather than traversing the world as a solo adventurer?
Sakura Yu: The guild system functions in Myth War II(http://mw2.igg.com) as a way for us to manipulate players’ behavior in game and force them to work together to give each other help as well as a much clearer understanding of their roles in the game.
The biggest difference when comparing online games and offline games is the interaction between players. The guild system bridges the gap of interaction in real life and virtual life. Players are also real people and have real feelings. They like making friends and prefer to form a stable community to streamline their game playing, like killing monsters or completing quests. Joining a guild makes people feel attached to their guilds, willing to fight without fear of death and win in various guild events. Such dedication will be contagious we hope.
On the contrary, a character progressing for a solo adventurer will be dragging, boring and non systematical. This endless process may erode and kill all players’ patience.
Joe Rosa: In doing some research, I noticed this particular title offers a "Rumor System". Could you please enlighten us as to how this system works in general?
Sakura Yu: In Woodlingor, where the Whisperers live, players above level 15 can ask the Whisperers spread a rumor after presenting them with a Rumor Scroll. After presenting a Rumor Scroll, players must choose an NPC to spread the rumor, the Messenger, Merchant or a Passerby. If more than 100 players with different IDs click and read this rumor within 20 minutes, it will become the truth. If not, the rumor will still be a rumor.
This feature will help increase players’ acknowledgement and recognition and give them surprising rewards after the successful spreading of a rumor.
Joe Rosa: Will Myth War II offer its inhabitants the ability to customize their characters, thus avoiding "cookie cutter templates", as they are often called in the MMORPG world?
Sakura Yu: Characters can be freely customized in Myth War II(http://mw2.igg.com).
In Myth War II(http://mw2.igg.com), there are four kinds of attributes including Stamina, Intelligence, Strength, and Agility. After leveling up, players have the right to set these points as they see fit. If you are a Mage, have a go at setting points in your strength attribute, or for your Agility to see how different your characters will be.
The title system offers players a chance to show off what they have accomplished. Of course, players can freely set attribute points, enhance resistances and choose skills for their pets.
Customize
Joe Rosa: One of the unique systems you offer, that currently are not available in most, if not all other titles, is termed as "Worship the Power". Perhaps you can explain how it would benefit a guild to become involved with this system?
Sakura Yu: Guild Leaders talk to the Sacrifice NPC to choose gods they are going to worship. Six gods on the backup list are the Justice God, Wisdom God, Strength God, Flame God, Darkness God and Hades.
After guild leaders decide what gods will be worshiped, they must lead their guild members to challenge the chosen gods. With a successful challenge, Gods will become the guild’s patron after their statues are built in the Guild HQ. From then on, guilds will not only be protected by their patron gods, but get the resistance derived from them. Guild members can choose one major resistance and one minor resistance derived from their patron god to be their resistance. The more a guild contributes to their patron god, the greater the outcome of the resistance bonus. That is, with higher Contribution Points, guild members will receive more blessing and protection from their guilds’ patron god.
Joe Rosa: What was the inspiration behind your unique Marriage and Brothers system?
Sakura Yu: We wanted to represent the aspects of real life that are most common in game. Players can make friends with others while playing the game, and through questing and countless battles, players have the opportunity to become very close with some of these people. The relationship systems offer players a chance to experience a different kind of virtual life and share these close bonds with their friends.

Joe Rosa: One of the more humourous systems I had the pleasure of experiencing, was your Kung Fu system. How do you find the players have taken to this feature?
Sakura Yu: The Kung Fu system contains the PVP element mentioned earlier that is always popular with our players. However we take it one step further and make it more fun, with rewards for participation.
Players can go to the Telepoter in Woodlingor to take part in the Kung Fu Competition. If they win, they will obtain Kung Fu points. After each week, 10 players who have the most points will be rewarded with titles and gold. The top 3 players’ statues will be erected in Woodlingor for 1 week. Gaining fame and god, what could be better than that?
Top 3 players’ statues
Joe Rosa: Another system that I have personally found intriguing is your War of the City system. How will guilds find that participation helps to further their charter?
Sakura Yu: Siege War is primarily focused on guild power, guild leaders’ management skills, and teamwork as well as guilds’ current financial circumstances. In other words, it takes a lot for your guild to be excellent, but the rewards are very alluring.
The war features 4 kinds of battles which are the qualifier, group round, semifinal, and final. No matter if you win or lose, you will obtain Exp, Mystical Fruit, Gems… of course, you will obtain more rewards if you win. It is worth mentioning that if your guild wins the final, your guild will obtain 1000 reputation and the right to control the city. In addition, the guild leader will obtain a cool title, and every member of the guild can claim city revenue and experience from an NPC.
However your guild won’t enjoy all the benefits for too long, a new challenge could be just over the horizon.
Joe Rosa: Could you help explain to our readers briefly, your also unique shapeshifting system?
Sakura Yu: Players can change their appearance by using different Shapeshifting Potions. For example, a Player can become a Capilla by using the Capilla Shapeshifing Potion. Each Shapeshifting Potion has a fixed value, with different Shapeshifting Potions changing a player's attributes and abilities differently. For example, the value of a Capilla Shapeshifing Potion is HP+1%, MP-2%, AP+3%, SP-5%, Anti Chaos +3% and Anti Fire-2%. Players will have their abilities changed according to the values in the Shapeshifing Potion after use.
Besides Monster Shapeshifting Potions, there are also Cursed Shapeshifting Potions which can transform players into a chest, a tree or a bucket and so on.
Shapeshifting
Thank you Sakura Yu, all in all I have found this new title from IGG quite enjoyable, as I have many of their other titles such as FlyFF and Tales of Pirates (which my daughter STILL plays regularly). They offer standard MMORPG fare, such as an in game mail system, Itemization Mall (which through minor monetary purchases, helps to customize your avatar even further), an immersive storyline, and full scale PvP warfare.
I have played many an MMORPG and have found this title to be as fun and as complete as many of the pay to play titles currently available.
