Call of Duty 4 Proves Me Wrong »

I’ve always been pretty against video games that are about war and killing people. I guess I just don’t like the glorification of something that I’m strongly against. But, I will admit, this Christmas my views were changed. I was at my boyfriend’s parent’s house, and his brother has an Xbox.
After an amazing dinner, I realized the boys had disappeared upstairs. When I went to see what they were doing, I found them playing Call of Duty 4. I sat down with curiosity, just wanting to check it out for a few minutes, and immediately, I was hooked.
Watching someone else play that game is like watching a Hollywood blockbuster film. I could not believe how entertaining it was! The camera angles, the story lines, the action! SO exciting!
At one point he was trapped on a boat. There had been a ton of action, was rid of almost all the bad guys, and all of a sudden the boat started to tip! We were sinking! I was yelling, “Follow those other guys! Run! Run!” as the water came pouring through the windows. I was freaking out so much you’d think I had actually been on the boat!
We, I mean, the video game character, got out safely, and we were onto the next level. I just could not believe the entertainment value associated with these gun-slinging, bad-guy shooting games.
So, I believe my point is that I have been proved wrong. While I know that there is no entertainment in actually being in a war, these games are actually quite entertaining. My only worry is that people don’t sign up for the military and expect to get the experience they got while sitting on their couches at home.
