From the last few years online distribution has become much more widespread. The most important console manufactures Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are offering digital downloads of games through their online marketplaces. On their site they have a client program available for free download and it also offers game’s update which is known as steam update. The updates will be applied automatically when the steam clients are restarted. Once the program is installed the user is asked to create an account. Their client program then allows you to create a buddy list,  purchase a extensive range of popular games,  instantaneously join your friends and play online and backup your games and save files to Storage Device.

Clients have been using steam for a couple years now and from their point of view it is the best digital pc game distribution system among all others. Without a glitch it allows you to see what servers your friends are playing on online and bond them. The variety of games available is very good as well. They have many popular titles such as Half Life, Half Life 2, Portal, Doom 3, Team Fortress 2, Bioshock, and Call of Duty 4, BookWorm,  The Orange Box, Company of Heroes, Quake, Sid Meier’s Civilization IV etc. Another enjoyable feature is that upon login it will download the games for you without having to find the game discs.

By and large the experiences with Steam have always been very upbeat.
