Electronic Arts (EA) wasted no time in creating an expansion pack for its latest title in the Battlefield Series. Northern Strike will be the title of the expansion. Northern Strike will bring quite a few new aspects to Battlefield 2142. New maps, vehicles and unlocks are just a few of the features of the new expansion. March 2007 is the slated release date for the expansion.

"Our number one goal with Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike was to give fans more of the close-quarters combat, increased persistence and new toys they've been asking for," said Kristoffer Bergqvist, the booster pack's producer. "We've also added gameplay enhancements including two brand new vehicle types in an asymmetrical set-up. Furthermore, we're introducing the Titan game mode into an urban setting and will debut the intensified Conquest Assault Lines game mode."The EU side will see a new heavily armed IFV Goliath vehicle. Meanwhile, the PAC side will receive a hovering light IFV Hacimoto. Along with new vehicles the expansion will present 10 new unlocks available through the unlock system. League Play
The Online Gaming League (OGL) has recently announced the creation of a Battlefield 2142 Ladder. OGL will feature two 8 vs 8 ladders for play. One ladder will allow the use of unlocks each player has selected. Meanwhile, the other ladder will feature standard competition style play. Both ladders are currently conquest only ladders.
