Kojima Productions was formed on April 1, 2005 after Konami merged several of its subsidiaries including Kojima's team at Konami Computer Entertainment Japan.The studio is located in Roppongi Hills in Roppongi, Tokyo. The studio had just under 100 employees in 2005 but has since grown to over 200 people for the development of Metal Gear Solid 4.The company's logo is the FOX unit badge from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.Under the new company, Kojima was no longer burdened with the business management and administrative responsibilities he had as KCEJ's vice president and was able to focus solely on creating games. Kojima Productions has already released six products under the new name: Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, Metal Gear Acid 2, Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Lunar Knights,Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, and Metal Gear Acid Mobile.The studio is currently working on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3. After completing Metal Gear Solid 2, Kojima did not want to work on a new Metal Gear Solid game.However, he later retracted his comments in the June 3, 2005 issue of Weekly Famitsu, after claiming his earlier statement that " will focus more on producing" was misinterpreted as stepping down from the director position. During the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo, he confirmed that he is assuming the role of director and designer. Kojima's co-directors on MGS4 were Shuyo Murata and Yoji Shinkawa.
