Xbox 360 Open Tray Error

Had the Xbox 360 for about 18 months and guess what? Got the "open tray" error. Seriously, what a @#$%! It's not like the console was abused in anyway . . . unbelieavable!!!! Ended up buying the Xbox 360 S a couple of days later but had to go to three different stores . . . I knew something would happen but not the "open tray" error!

Haven't had that error before, but the first console to 3 red rings, then my brand new Slim scratched the hell out of a disk!



I dont even think the disk is repairable, I'm glad I got two copies of the game though, and I'm praying it was a freak accident...

Ended taking the Xbox apart and repositioning the laser and works fine until the laser gets stuck again. Disassembled the Xbox about three times so far. Ordered a new replacement DVD drive from online auction site and was mailed wrong model and not new either. Gave me an excuse to buy a Xbox 360 S. Still planning to track down replacement DVD drive to get the old one working properly. Learned more about the Xbox 360 in the last week than planned.

I'm surprised to hear that your Xbox 360 S scratched your game disk. I know the older Xbox 360 had that issue when the disk is spinning and the console is moved. I would have thought MS would addressed the short comings of the original Xbox 360s.
