Default Bans and SpawnPoint Policies

Please Read ALL THREADS BELOW.

At SpawnPoint, it is one of our goals to provide a fun environment for all. Another one of our major goals is to increase the population of players on Spawnpoint servers and the website. We don't want to ban as many as possible and only have the elite people that we like to play with. Very few people like to come to servers with only bots. Keep this in mind when you see a decision that you (speaking figuratively here) don't like. There is a good reason for most of them and if there you believe there isn't, there are forums to discuss it. Do not freak out and start demanding things in game. There have been some bans and other issues lately that some people have not liked. Although we want to increase users on the servers and such, we will not compromise on certain issues. The ones that have been most public lately are hacking, racist stuff, and open disrespect and verbal abuse of admins. No matter how much we like or other people like a person, if they are hacking.....they get added to the global ban list. period. We don't add people to this list lightly.Sometimes multiple members of the anti-cheat team will look at a demo when a ban is contested in the effort to eliminate mistakes. If there is a doubt, the player in question will not be added to that list. Most non-hacking issues are going to be some form of temp ban or other discipline imposed.

Another issue that has come up is server rules. Some server rules are very server specific, not just map specific. Some of the other servers you play on might allow one issue but let another slide. Do not expect that the Spawnpoint server you are "visiting" will have the same exact rules as the one you frequent. I have one thing to say to this....rules are rules. Most of the server specific rules have been set up with direct imput from the "regulars" on the server. If you feel like you are becoming a server "regular" and would like to see some rules changes, talk to the admins that you see on that server and ask/suggest politely <-------and I do stress this. This doesn't mean bother the crap out of them so that they want to just mute you either. You can also make suggestions in the server session forums too. Remember, just because you think that it is a great idea, doesn't mean that your suggestion will be used either.
Go have fun and enjoy the servers!........but follow the rules..

Any other senior admins/Spawnpoint staff feel free to add to this......

Default Guidelines for posting in the forums

Here are the posting guidelines that we would like you to follow. Some forums are for enjoyment....some are for settlling issues, some for suggestions and others for help and information. There are some things we want you to do as users....

1. If you have an issue, please post responsibly. This means no swearing or "flaming people up" when you have an issue. Negative posts always seem to end up as one long arguement. This doesn't help the poster or the rest of our community who come to these forums looking for answers or similarly answered questions. If you "let it rip", you will notice the responses are more about your attitude then your problem.....how does that help anyone?

2. Please go easy with the quoting. There is no need for 6 paragraphs of quotes in your post. We don't want to discourage it, but use it responsibly.

3.If someone has a problem, especially with an admin or another player.....STAY OUT OF IT. Examples are going to be made, so don't poke your nose into someone else's problems unless you want to volunteer to be that example. Problems get solved best if they are handled quickly and by staff. Name calling and throwing your 2cents in usually will make our job harder.

4. Don't "hijack" threads for your own use. Start new ones. What you are posting in threads should be along the lines with what the thread starter intended....

5. If you aren't staff, don't act like you are. We do have staff to take care of issues and they will be able to do it more efficiently if they are not running around "putting out fires" started by others....

6. Enjoy yourselves! We are here because we like to play a game that is FUN! Sometimes I think that is forgotten. You have a great tool (these forums) to increase your fun on the servers...use it well and you will have even more fun.

7. Use descriptive titles when you start a new thread. We already have dozens and dozens that are titled "Banned" "I was banned" "banned for no reason" etc. We do try and stay on top of things, but it wastes time if we have to keep asking the same questions about your information.

These forums are provided to enrich the vibrant SpawnPoint community that we all are involved in. Following these simple rules will make your experience better along with everyone else's that read your posts. This will also decrease our response time to the really important issues like getting problems resolved, answering questions, adding maps to servers, reviewing requests for things that will make gaming better.....see where I am going with this? If we don't have to deal so much with the "down side", we will have more time to work on the "up side" and play ourselves.......and you guys know you want to pwn me

Default Forum Spamming & Old Threads

Recently there has been a rise in spamming of forum threads and particularly with posting in age old threads from weeks /months ago!

We moderators would request that this cease with immediate effect please.

Please note that spam forum posts into old threads will be deleted (causing inconvenience to the moderators) and if continued, may well result in warnings being issued.

f it is felt that posts are just being made to increase post counts then this will be looked on negatively in any future decisions. The Moderators have more important things to do than delete useless "spam" (Like package up coffee mugs ).

Whilst Spawnpoint welcomes all forum members "VALUED" input (and thanks to the hundreds of you who do post well making the forums what they are today) useless and unwanted spamming just makes the forums difficult to read and difficult tohelp those people who require both technical and gaming help.

There is now an "infraction" system in place to give you WARNINGS if you step out of line or break a Spawnpoint rule. Be aware of these and should you be unfortunate to receive on LEARN from it.

Thank you in advance.

Rob

Default Important Information for the n00bs!

First off, welcome to SpawnPoint. We strive to keep our servers cheat free and a fun place to play.

http://www.spawnpoint.com/forums/report_incident/
Here is the link to our "problems" forum. All the stickies (the posts above the solid green line with the thumbtacks under the rating) in this forum have great information for you for most problems you might have on one of our servers.

http://www.spawnpoint.com/gaming_servers.php
Here is the link for our server page that has the FAQs (frequently asked questions) on it. They are right below the "apply for admin" and "report a hacker" buttons. These FAQs have our server rules and even rules that our admins must follow.

You, as new players, will be required to follow our rules on our servers. Our rules are a little strict, but they are fair and enforced across the board... even our admins are required to follow our rules. We don't allow "rogue" admins to just do whatever they want. They are there primarily to enforce our rules and help keep the game as fun for all as possible.

Have fun and follow the rules!
