GTX280 review

Just came across this, didn't know these got released already

Looks impressive.

I'm looking to how it stacks up against the upcoming HD4800...I don't feel like forking out 680 dollars for one of these

Yeah i have been watching this and i am also waiting to see what the ati 4870 & 4870x2 can do. Also from the benchmarks the 280gtx only seems to give a huge improvement at 1920*1200 or above (When compared to a 9800gx2).

Also the benchmarks of the ati 4850 look very impressive and i think two of them in crossfire will beat a 280gtx.

An intresting couple of months ahead in the graphics card market

unfortunately the 9800gx2 beats it, probably due to bad release drivers though, it should beat the 9800 gx2 soon though.

If it never beats the GX2 even with better drivers, that is still an amazing card. Keep in mind it is a single core, while the GX2 is 2 cores. Uses less power, has better and faster memory on a 512bit bus,and probably produces less heat due to the newer fabrication process.

But yeah, I'll never pay more than 500 for a GPU, and never buy one until it has been out for at least 3 months to work out any serious kinks.

I will however most likely be buying the 4870 on release day and screw myself over, but I'll try put up a good review of it

Here is a review (In french ) with a gtx280, gtx260, 9800gx2, 9800gtx, 8800 ultra, 3870x2, 4850 and 3870. there are lots of graphs though so it easy to see what they are saying.

The 4850 looks very impressive bearing in mind this is aimed at the budget gamer. I cant wait to see the reviews for the 4870 (which is rumored to be 25% faster than the 4850)

true on the dual gpu part, once the drivers comes out and people realize a single gpu card is beating a dual gpu card theyll be buying one. i may have to sell my 8600's and save up a little for the gtx260 which came in just below the 9800gtx if i remember right.

I've seen this a while ago too. Unfortunately, two 9800GTX or 9800GX2 are cheaper and faster. But you can't beat 3 of those bad boys in tri-sli *mouth waters*.
