but i are a little bit upset because the ps3 costs like 5999Kr and u are paying mostly for Blueray , don't get me wrong the hardware is @ Top of the line.
But as a sony slave :P i bought one, MY Wife snapped (hehe)

PS3 has Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo so its got me, that is when i have the money to get it.
It also has some free online gaming, though i've heard the community is still pretty small.
360 has Halo3, but im still content with H2.
Eventually i'll probably get both, but for now i'd rather have the PS3

If the price of the 360 comes down, and they do something about the "red rings of death" I keep reading about, I'll consider getting one.
As for the PS3....hell no. Even with the price cuts they keep announcing in a desperate attempt to boost sales, I still consider it a waste of money. I've seen one exclusive title that looked interesting, while every other game that looks good is available on other systems for less money, and looks and plays exactly the same. Why would I want to pay more for the exact same games just so Sony can try to push Blu-Ray? Even if I actually wanted a Blu-Ray player (I don't) I wouldn't go with the PS3, especially after reading today that the PS3 is not fully compatible with the new "updated" copy protection on Blu-Ray movies, causing movies that use it to take at least 2 minutes to load (when they load at all) and issues with image and sound quality.
Now the Wii....there's a console that actually looks like it is worth the money!

Ps3 : +
X360: -
+ Ps3 can do 1080P x360 can't ( well the elite can but... )
-- / + free online ( (not that small I play EA Skate and lots of people playing) microsoft got a way better online for sure but you need to pay for it)
- Ps3 have a 90 days warranty ( x360 have now a great warranty I cant remember how many time you got, but they need to do it because of all the red lights dead x360s).
+ Ps3 can play blu-ray PS :by the way look the price of a blu-ray player ;)
Finally if you got a TV that cant show 1080P go with the X360, also cheaper with bundles but you need to pay the online gaming...
but if you want to watch blu-ray discs, watch in 1080p games + movies and have free online ( still less big than x360) go for the PS3
Enjoy,
Ps: look for ebay they got good prices.

I was checking out my daily collection of tech news this morning and found a quote that almost made me burst out laughing at work...Valve is not porting The Orange Box to the PS3, but they have made a port for the 360. EA Games is going to port the game to PS3, but Valve is refusing to do it themselves because "The PS3 is a waste of everybody's time. Investing in the Cell, investing in the SPE gives you no long-term benefits. There's nothing there that you're going to apply to anything else. You're not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they've created. I don't think they're going to make money off their box. I don't think it's a good solution."

Im amused, the PS3 may cost more in initial price, true, but look @ the facts.
1. PS3 has free online, XBOX 360 - $20.00 per month, $240 per year on top of the original cost of the Console
2. PS3 has built in Blu-Ray, the same technology that costs roughly $1000 per Blu-Ray Players
3. PS3 is compatible with PS1, PS2, and PSP
As noted in the 1st two facts, think about which actually costs more.
In addition, XBOX is cheaper due to cheaper parts, you dont hear a
pandemonium of dieing PS3 on the news like you did with the 360 during its
release.

I consider the built-in BluRay of the PS3 to be a serious negative. I (like the vast majority of consumers) have no interest in BluRay, so why would I want to pay extra for a technology that may or may not survive the current format war just so Sony can say "See, BluRay players are outselling HD-DVD players!" (yes, they do count the PS3 when they make claims about BluRay player sales in order to pump up the numbers). If they ditched BluRay and brought the price down by a couple of hundred dollars I wouldn't consider the PS3 a total rip off.
Oh, and the recent update to the BluRay DRM turned out to be incompatible with the PS3, making it useless as a BluRay player for those movies.
Also, backward compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games is going to largely vanish from the PS3. The 60GB version has been discontinued, and the 80GB version won't have the hardware chips that gave the previous versions backward compatibility. Some games will still work, but no where near all
Sony also has plans to release yet another new version to replace the failed 20GB version, which makes 4 separate versions in the first year alone. They are getting desperate for a way to boost PS3 sales....last month the PS3 slipped another notch in the sales rankings when it fell behind the Nintendo Game Cube.
Add to that the total lack of must-have titles and the fact that major developers, including Valve, have publicly stated that porting games to the PS3 is a "waste of everybody's time", and I see absolutely no reason to want a PS3....unless someone is a Sony fanboy who just wants to be able to brag about being one of the few people who wasted their money on it.

The 60GB is planned for discontinuation :p
Other than Valve, what major developers are you referring to ?
EA has been the largest game developer for the past several years and they are working with the PS3
You may see 4 versions, but you don't hear any one of those versions not working (ie. Xbox Ring of Death, Recent Controller Recall, Over Heat)

The 60 has been discontinued. At this point they are selling the backstock, but production has been discontinued.
You're right, you really don't hear about the 4 different versions of the PS3 simply failing to work (other than as a BluRay player for disks with the new DRM.....), although that probably has more to do with the fact you don't really hear much about people actually buying it either :p

:p anywho, i'll make it come down to this point, does it your PERSONAL PREFFERENCE really matter at all ? I've been thinking that and we all have our likes and dislikes, but to rant about them over the internet is almost pointless. The Xbox 1800 will come out and so will the PS6, so consoles are pretty much obsolete when compated to computers anyhow

sony is not exactly a great company. I love the playstation, and all, the ps3 is a freaking house. 8 mini processors, fast as hell, with a very nice gc. But it doesn't sell, because blue ray isnt needed, there aren't as many GOOD games for it, and free online usage wasn't enough to get sales. That is why the 360 comes out on top. That, and 360 has halo, there is no way sony can compete with that. I personally bought my 360 only so I could play halo 3. Which is a great game btw. But i will get other games, anyway. Don't go thinkin the ps3 sux, cuz it doesn't, just its a smaller community.

I was never a "Sony Fan" per say, but the PS2 was the first console I ever purchased. I got it for two reasons: 1 to play the SOCOM game and: 2 to play DVD's as I did not have a DVD player at the time.
Well the developers for SOCOM dropped the ball hard on the last two SOCOM titles and then failed to support them. So my clan went in search of another game title. We decided to get a next gen console and decided on the Xbox360. We play R6V on that. R6V did not come out for the PS3 till 6 months after we changed over. Even if we looked for another console now that R6V is out on both platforms we still would go with the 360.
The 360 has more games out than the PS3 by far. The 360 has more 'good' titles out than the PS3 by far. The PS3 has neat-O hardware but there are no developers that really put that hardware to use yet. The PS3 costs way more than the 360. So really with the 360 you get way more for your buck than the PS3.
If you like to play games online like I do then the 360 has a MUCH better online system and better online support.
That's my 2 cents.

Ive owned both, as well as the nintendo wii, and when it came down to getting rid of two and keeping one, i chose the PS3. The main reasons i chose the ps3 over the xbox 360 is basically...
1) It plays blu-ray, which whether you want to accept it or not, is the next format for movies and has already beaten HD-DVD which is dead.
2) It is slightly more powerful than the xbox 360, even though there are not many games that take it to its limit.
3) I like to play online games, occasionally, but dont want to have to pay £50 a year just for the luxury of "occasional" online play. The ps3 online is totally free.
4) For ME the ps3 has the more appealing exclusive titles. Ive played and completed Gears of War, and for as much as it was fun, it was still just _another_ fps. Tekken 6 is gonna be a ps3 exclusive, and that is one of my all time favourite games.
5) Halo 3 was the biggest over-rated game of all time. lol. I waited AGES for it to come out, and when it did, the week of release, my xbox 360 decided it was time to die. Which brings me on to my next point.
6) The guy in the previous post says about how "Also When your 360 breaks u dont have to pay for shipping and each repair on a 360 is 99.99$ and ur getting it repaired for free!". Thats not something to brag about. I havent heard of many ps3 troubles, but the first thing that comes to mind when ppl mention the xbox 360, is the red rings of death. Although granted, they did fix it for me within 2 weeks totally free of charge. Microsoft ftw :P

In my opinion, XBOX360 is much, much and /MUCH/ better than a PS3.
The graphics are ok, but the games are boring. The games that are on the PS3 haven't changed alot from the PS2 ones.
If you never had a PS2 before, the PS3 is good. I understand, but I had almost /ALL/ the games they released. The PS3 sucks for me now. The graphics aren't much better, the games aren't much better. Most of the "PS3-only" games were bought by Microsoft. PS3 only have a few games left, that aren't that great. XBOX360 has much better games, in my opinion. The controller is just great. If you learn to play with it, the PS' controllers are /REALLY/ bad compared to those.
It's just my opinion,
Give a XBOX360 a try. Buy the /GOOD/ games and I want to bet, if you're a real gamer, you'll prefer XBOX360 above the PS3.

Well time has passed and something has changed for me. I now own a PS3. I have had one for about a month now. So I wanted to revisit this now that I have had time to experience both systems.
The bluray player on the PS3 is the BIGGEST thing it has as an edge over the 360. But as another poster mentioned. No one really cares. The only people that I see saying how it is so neat are PS3 owners, I never hear about people saying "I'm gonna get one because it has a bluray player". However I am sure many do. When I looked at the stores for a bluray player I found they tend to cost $400. So if your gonna do that, get a PS3. For me the bluray player was not a factor at all.
Something that no one even mentioned anywhere EVER (and I have no idea why) is that the PS3 is also a DVD upscale converter. WOW all my DVD movies look REAL nice now. To be honest I see no difference whatsoever between a regular DVD and a bluray disk now. They both play at 720p (my tv is 720p/1080i). So I will not be buying any bluray disks. I will pay less for the DVD and let the upscale converter do it's work.
Now games. I buy my consoles to play games not movies. I had a PS2 and I got it to play SOCOM (all titles in the series). The online system was free and I liked it free, but it sucked. No support what so ever. The PS3 is not much better. They have about 1/8 of the Live! quality features. The XMB (navigation menu sytem) is very un-user friendly compared to the 360 navigation tabs. The 360 cost me $4.17 a month. $50 a year. It has cost that for the 2 years I have owned my 360. (No idea where the other folks folks are getting their prices from.) sometimes it is cheaper like THIS DEAL for 13 months @ $45, that's $3.46/mo. That is EXTREAMLY cheap and no skin off my back for all the support that comes with it. This includes the best system for hooking up with friends online whether you are in or out of a game. The LIVE! online is unmatched by any other console.
So to put all that in perspective. The 360 is the unmatched system for online gaming with or without friends. For off line play the PS3 is no better. Any single player game that you get looks and plays the SAME for both systems. Online games player better on the 360. CoD4 is a prime example of that. On the PS3 it has very big crashing issues, while the 360 has seen nothing of the sort. Also on the 360 you put your disk in and play. On the PS3 you put your disk in THEN you have to install the game THEN you can play.
A plus for the PS3 - It can be used as a PC. It has an option for installing and running Linux OS. THAT IS FREAKING COOL. I am a nerd and I love such things. I put Yellow Dog Linux 6.0 on it then I tell the PS3 to Load Other OS and WHAM! I have one more PC. The PS3 has it's own internet browser...but it sux hard. It is a worse browser than my Palm TX (which is rather good for browsing.) But when you load the PS3 to the linux OS you get a much better browser.
So hardware potential aside, I am gonna give my final report on what IS being used not what the hardware is capable of. The 360 is the best hands down for playing games ESPECIALLY of you play online games. If playing movies is your priority then the PS3 is where you want to be as it is FAR superior at that. (But you should be selective in your bluray purchases as most movies out now look just as good on DVD+upscaler as the more expensive bluray versions.
Developers HATE porting to the PS3 because the code/hardware is so hard to write for. I know this first hand from 2 developers Infinity Ward and Slant Six. I spent a week at IW while I was helping to write the multiplayer guide for CoD4 and got the developers input then. One of my clan mates is the lead QA tester at /6 and they are making the PS3 exclusive title SOCOM Confrontation.
