Well, I only got PS3 and think that is a good one. I played XBOX360 at my friends places, and its kinda hard when you'r used to PS3.
And yes, live is free at PS3.
If u ask me, i prefer PS3.

PS3

It's got everything you need, only good thing about Xbox (imo) is the interaction between
PC, thanks to Microsoft. But the PS3 is improving each update to compete with that.

Performance wise they are both practically the same.

I have both consols and I think they both there good bits and bad. On some games I do think the Xbox has nice crisp graphic,s but there seems to be more good things about PS3. It has a bluray player, you dont have to buy a battery pack for contrllors because it allready has one. Media streaming is also better on the PS3 as you can copy to hard drive xbox you can only watch or download. With PS3 media you can stream bluray films straight from your PC. But one last big up for Xbox I do think the kinect is pukka and accurate a must have for all you Xbox lover's

I agree that both have their pros and cons.

I'm a 360 girl myself, because I like that the people in the community have to buy their subscriptions, which in my opinion seems to limit the number of kiddies in the grown-up pool. Nothing ruins gameplay more than hearing the winge of a 10-year-old's voice telling mommy he'll go to bed after this game every 5 minutes. :( I'm also pretty daed set on the 360 controller, it's hard for me to play PS3 properly because I fumble around for a trigger constantly.

On the other hand, the one thing I really like about PS3 is how many exclusive games there are. Yes, 360 has some great ones, like Gears, but they're few and far between (for big names anyway) and PS3 seems to have an exclusive game out every couple of months. I love me some Final Fantasy and God of War :)

Another item that hasn't been mentioned is reverse compatibility of games. If you have a 60 GB hard drive PS3 it has the most backwards compatibility while 360 I am not sure on how much backwards compatibility it has.

PS3 controllers have one advantage and that is internal battery pack, they also have use a 5 pin usb cable connector which is the same as some computer hardware so the cable would be available at almost at computer store.

I have preference of one controller over the other as I am used to both.

I play the PS3 over my XBox360. Just like some of you say, there are pros and cons to both consoles. 360 has great genre games such as Gears and Halo, but the online gaming must be a certain member to do so, whereas the PS3 is free. I dislike the fact though the PS3 (new) cannot play PS2 games anymore. If you have the first model, lucky to have it still working. Oldest models have that error similar to the red ring of death by xbox lol.
i honestly dislike the controllers though for the xbox. Very bulky. PS3 kepts its original and made it wireless.
In any case though. I choose the PS3 because most of my genre gaming are all along with Sony. I do drop by back to my Xbox for gears and halo because of the upcoming new games coming out, but as for any other games, not to my liking.

As an xBox user myself, I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed. It may not have all the great games (Uncharted 3, anyone?), but it has a few blockbuster exclusives of its own (Halo comes to mind). Its online service is, in my opinion, unmatched. Impeccable, lag free, online play, intelligent matching (TrueSkill runs across all games, matching you with players who play at your level), and next to zero downtime - and yes, it's yet to be "hacked," if that means anything.

Having to pay for the service is a stupid reason to chose the PS3 over the xBox. It's $60, which works out to $5 a month. I think, if you're serious enough about online play, you can spend that extra money and get everything the PS3 offers, and the security of a reliable, up to date service.

Just my opinion.

PS3

blueray player - a decent blueray player can cost up to $150 anyways, chip in little more to get an awesome gaming system

that's my biggest selling point.

Before anything i'm just gonna go on the record that this opinion is coming from a PS3 user.
I've never really found most of the Xbox360 games great with the expection of Gears of war, Halo i thought was just rehash of COD only with futuristic weapon and setting.
And tullys, The xbox has been hacked before: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/video-games/Xbox/8906043/Xbox-Live-customers-hacked-in-fresh-cyber-fraud-case.html
And somewhere on youtube you can find a video of some kid hacking his way into a xbox live employees, i don't i'm allowed to post that video on here though.

You should really give the PSN a try tullys, It's a great service, only thing i gotta pay is for games the plus service, which is opinional, But it does come with some good offers, some games are even free if you have a plus subscription, which is optional

But just me.

That's almost insulting; Halo was released in 2000, the first Call of Duty was released in 2003.

Phishing != hacking. Phishing is the user being an idiot, whereas hacking is between the attacker and the company or service.

I'm perfectly content paying for xBox Live. I can't remember the last time it had downtime and, after I got an xBox and Live, all my friends got the console and online accounts, too... I can play on PSN while at my step-Dad's, though he doesn't have any games that I'd like.
