I own a PS3 but mainly because i hate microsoft with a passion haha Both consoles do the same job and they way things are heading it looks like they will both get the same games so therefore it doesnt really matter.
But still... PS3 is best :D simply because of Final Fantasy 13 when it comes out lol

And another thing I feel is so much better then just gaming on the console is the modding you can do. I've installed different operating systems, home-brews, etc. etc. It's great cause I can do so much. It's basically like a computer...

I also have modded my PSP and you have the ability of remote play which allows you to store media on your PS3 and play it from your PSP. :D

I think its a close one but being in the computing industry always tells you to say "f**k microsoft" and go for the linux option. Havent modded my ps3 personally but ive seen quite a few on the net. and they look awesome. so much power. a ps3 can do everything an xbox can do. All the better games (grand theft auto, gran tarismo) are multi console so you cna play them on either. so if your cheap buy an xbox if you know a bit about stuff buy a ps3 :)

I think each system has it's advantages. I never really looked at the Xbox 360 seriously. I found it kind of poor marketing that you have to buy a HD DVD drive. I would have thought if Microsoft was serious in supporting HD DVD, the drive capability would have been built into the console.

I thought about the Wii because the price was attractive; however, by the time I was close to buying one it became a Xmas hot item and scarce.

I went ahead and purchased a PS3 80GB because I had bought the PS and the PS2 previously. I like blu-ray capability, the backward compatibility and the PS3 even plays the PS games . . . my youngest son has discovered the old PS games like Crash Team Racing and Crash Bash. Having the PS2 and the PS3 in different rooms in the house is convenient but also nice the PS3 can play the PS2 games.

I finally bought an used network card for the PS2 and plan on networking both PS2/PS3 together. That should be fun!

Nice!

I'm going to buy myself a shiny new PS3 tomorrow night!!

I'll let you know how it goes, I hope its better than the 360, it was a tough choice!

you won't go wrong. Besides even the themes are hotter on ps3 ha. So you can change the background on the 360. PS3 you can change everything and anything. Make previews of saved movies and transfer your playlist to your psp to take on the go.

Speaking of themes. I have started to make my own themes. I made one for Assassin's Creed and one for the Lakers...actually I'm more in the process of making those cause there are a lot of icons involved that I am changing around.

There are alot of biased arguements here. It really just depends what you want to play and how. Xbox 360 online play is so much better than PS3 hands down. I love most of the games that are just for the 360. It depends what kind of gamer and what you like. Graphics arent really that much of a big deal for me. Hence I love the 360. Despite the problems it really is a great system.

so actually you are just for the 360 lol. At least my first posts pointed out the good of both and the bad of both. All I keep seeing here is too much fanboy replies.

I do have to agree the PS3 and the playstation network has free online gaming and that is another reason why I liked the PS3. Also the downloadable game demos is a pretty good feature.

The graphics are amazing. I bought COD4 for my son and it's fun watching him playing on the internet. I even setup the bluetooth head set for him . . . I was a bit hesitant at first but went ahead with the install . . . ended up hearing a lot of cursing on couple of servers he was playing on and caught him using profanity . . . told him if I caught him doing that again I would wring his little neck. He doesn't use the headset anymore even though it's available.

Another neat feature is I backed up all my digital photos and movies from the digital camera on to the PS3 hard drive. I like the way the XMB displays the movies so you can preview. Changing out the 2.5 inch SATA is pretty easy if you need a larger hard drive.

Sony does need to improve the web browser. I think it's really awkward to use. Originally, I had the PS3 installed in the entertainment center and it puts out some serious heat. I moved it to the top of the entertainment center so it would get proper airflow. I bought my PS3 80GB for $499, no tax. If it was $599, I don't think I would have bought it. It didn't really matter since I also bought an extra controller, BD remote, and bluetooth keyboard.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the PS3 and know my two boys are happy with it. Again, I think each system is great in its own way. It would be nice to have HALO on PS3 though. Think Microsoft will allow that????

Remember, it's not all just graphics. There is so much to do with it (Modding).

yes modding is the fun part. I want to try to achieve getting ventrilo to run in the background of a game lol. COD4 yea thats the goal. That will prevent needing a laptop or pc nearby.

i disagree totally. the playstation online is just as good if not superior online plus no gay charges. i mean seriously you pay enough for the console without having to pay monthly/ yearly to play your own games online. total rip off

people say "xbox live gives u better friends"

bull, the playstation does everything xbox live can do.

I admit i have a biased point of view however ive played with both for a long while before making my decision.

another thing that made my decision was : FINAL FANTASY. sorry but xbox will never get the ff series.

I agree with most of what you say. I do have to say that PSN is not better even though I don't own a 360. I am a ps3 owner but Sony is stupid with constantly using GameSpy for their servers.

The basic online use it fine (aside from the website memory bs w/nonstop flash). The ps store is fantastic. The only downside is their ingame server provider blows. That is why a lot of nights with heavy traffic games nonstop disconnect.

360 does provide more online stability. I just do not see the need for money greed over it. They could just offer it for free. Sony just needs to find a better provider or use their brains. They own so much high tech stuff yet make no in house servers for online gaming on the ps3.

If they ran their own servers uptime would kick 360 ***. That would basically put an end to the 360 online crap.

System wise all I see is people wishing the 360 had what ps3 has and calling it a 540. Sadly if they want all that just "BUY A PS3" lol.

Also FF owns all rpgs. PS3 buy it buy it buy it................. Gatsu is not a fanboy. He is just nonstop making sense cuz he is the god of technology. This was not typed by Gatsu in any way!

Yea people started making rumors that the 360 will get this "huge" upgrade making it the 540 and it'll have Bluray and stuff, but I was like this is coming from the same people who bashed Bluray like 5 months ago because it is affiliated with the PS3...

Oh and I agree, the Final Fantasies are the best RPGs, no other RPGs even come close and don't forget about all other games coming out for it like Metal Gear Solid 4 which looks amazing...

lol

what happened to the "wee"

It all depends on what you like.

FPS = Xbox
Sports PS3
RPG PS3
Fighting Xbox

but thats just me..

today i checked my bank account and found i have more cash than i thought. gonna go buy a wii :P sorry but wii is way more fun when you got a bunch of mates round and want a quick boxing match.

FPS= PC. no console will ever take the title of FPS. halo is pitifull in comparison to CSS.
Sports= wii. have you played pro evo or fifa on a wii. its amazingly good. plus golf, boxing, pretty much everything.
RPG= Ps3's star genre
Fighting= personally i think all rounder.

Consistency= xbox covers all the boxes hence the reason so much hype. It came out first and has a huge advantage with game sales but that will shift by the end of this year.
Titles= Xbox star titles: halo, gears of war, GTA (multi platform), COD (multplatform) Bioshock (multiplatform). have already been released. they have kept 0 of thier top titles in reserve. PS3 on other hand have still to deliver: Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, resistance 2,

Homebrew: xbox is winning hands down on homebrew. more time has been spent on it so there are lots of neat tricks. However i still think the PS3 homebrew community (small as it is) will make a big impact. Im not talking about downloadin ps3 back ups and playing them. its just not justifyable right now. (Blu ray disks cos $40 + each. ps3 game files reaching the 70GB mark. im sorry but 70gb IS way to big to download.) im talking about the emulation of your favourite consoles, new operating systems. Being able to play CSS with mouse and keyboard through your PS3. Hosting a server from your PS3.

Now thats what i call the future.

I like how PS3's games being big is a bad thing. :D

By the way, I read this article on the Wii's selection of games having the worst ratings average of any other console...
