ok there was this hacker on evolutiongamin.nl named rvg:.jew. when ever he was runing his aimbot the spectate option wan't there. i asked everyone there and they didnt see it either. i had him ban though i just waited on spec for like 3 days for him to show spec went away but i was already there and got a demo. anyway i was told that hackers couldnt do this to SP servers how was this guy doing it?

Im going to assume that there is another hack on the market that has found a different way of doing what you are describing.

Yeah, I've noticed in console that there was a function that runs when this hack was on, it was a fcvar function, that had the name of like "nospectate" or something like that.

I just remember it crashing my computer the last time that happened.

so, what do we do in a case like this? record a demo just trying to chase them down? or is there some way to show the simple fact that we can't spectate the person and use that as grounds for a ban?

I havent noticed this problem myself, but I figure I should know just in case!

That's the thing, I think the person has a fcvar function that prevents others from speccing him/her.

I still haven't found anything on Google about the fcvar function, but I will get to the bottom of this.

Can you still get to him/her by hitting the space bar and then typing the first character of their nickname out?

I have never heard of not being able to spec a player within a pub server....only when the server is setup for something like CAL or OGL/TWL to discourage ghosting...heck, you can't even leave the first person view when those server configs are executed. But this is interesting.....will have to talk to the other members in AntiCheat about this....

I think it happened to me before... but to be honest, I don't think it's a cheat, but rather a glitch. I think it only happens at a certain point when you join or when the map starts...

I've had the spectate option not show up, and usually if you switch to the other team you can then switch to spectate. At least thats what i've seen in the past.

What i do wish you could do is jump immediately to who you want to spectate, instead of having to flip through everyone in the game. Anyone know if this is possible? Would make recording demos easier.

Yeah.

Go into 1st person mode of spectate, and then hit your "shift" key. Then just type the first letter or character of the person's screen name, and it'll jump to their screen.

For example, you wish to spec this guy named =-i-r-teh-suck-=. You would hit "shift", then hit "=", and it'll jump right to that guy.

If there are multiple names with the "=" at the beginning, it'll just cycle through those names.

Or like, if a bunch of people have the letter "D" as the first letter of their names, then it'll just cycle through those people that have the letter "D" in their name as the first letter.

Ive been doing research on some hacks some new ones like spin ect ive been noticeing some have been getting sneeky with the aimbot ect i havent seen spectator blockers yet.. Ive seen consistancy blockers and sv_cheats by passes thats it

I would say if this happens just take a demo like usually after killing yourself. Type in status, point out the name with your mouse and then go to where the spectate option should be. I would say the best thing to do is to get his/her steam id and give it to an admin to baan him/her; or get an admin there from your friends list.

lol i ran into a hacker the other day whom left upon me joining spectate, he had called me a noob, and its like wait a second you suck so bad at the game that you need an aimbot and a speed hack.

oh and hey what is the difference between the bait and cannon fodder. The bait just means your a decoy and cannon fodder is the people who get kill by the cannons acting as human sheilds lol.

Well, I dont think its a certain hack. But on Some servers I've noticed you have to be dead before you can spectate.
^^ That might be the case.
