My personal openion i may seem like a conspiracy freak but think about it where will your precious bioshock go when steam goes bankrupt? or if your acct gets hacked? too many things with steam can go wrong not worth the auto updates..

Honestly, there's pretty much no chance of Steam vanishing anytime in the foreseeable future. Steam is a Valve product, and Valve is doing exceptionally well. They are expanding their development, licensing, and distribution contracts and continual growth in revenue. Personally, I'm kind of hoping that they decide to take the company public because they are one of the companies I'd like to be able to invest in.

i agree completely with fallen, also i don't think im stupid enough to get my account hacked

my passwords are stupidly long
I have anti spy ware
I'm not going to download any random mods with key-loggers and stuff like that
I also have the common sense to not reply to emails and steam Friends messages asking for my ID and password
plus my OS gets reinstalled nearly monthly so it a fresh install all the way

But steam will die and i hope it does each game should be stand alone or at least an option not to use steam..
only thing usefull about steam is the updates and friends system thats it nothing else everything else is just a pain the arse

Steam won't die. Steam is expanding, not slowing down, and more and more developers are buying in.

I prefer having CDs of my games too, if for no other reason than so I don't have to go through downloading them again every time I reformat or build a newe system, but that's what the back-up function in Steam is for.

Like it or hate it, Steam is here to stay.

I just hate the fact i dont have physical access to my games and once i install hl2 i cant play it if i dont have the internet WTF?what if i have a gaming laptop and i go on a road trip and i dont have steam on my laptop? im screwed should be an option with steam to have it with or without steam
and i just read about securom that solves all my crashing issues with a few programs 2k has screwed us all over with securom im buying an xbox and bioshock for xbox lol not for pc

I have the game ( full ) but I'm not that impressed, I prefer the crysis demo oops. I prefer that you download the demo first, It's always better that way than to pay 50-70 bucks for a game that you don't like. Personnaly I like games with single player but I prefer the ones that can allow you to play on net with other things than bots. ok maybe x 3 now :P.
