Ability to Delete threads and posts

Can the site dev team maybe allow people to delete there own posts and threads and maybe lock and unlock them too?

We will not be adding the ability for posts to be deleted and locked on there own. Please request for it to deleted or locked, if thats what you require.

You can edit your post right after you've made it, but if someone else posts in the thread after you, then you cannot go back and edit it.

Which, sometimes, can be bad, cause if you double post or want to add to your post(s) later on, you cannot change it.

We are in the business of building threads in the forums... If you have a question, and it gets answer, or if you have a thread and its been responded to, we like to leave these in place for the rest of the community to search and review.

Deletions don't really make sense here - the downsides, including mass deletions, users deleting detailed threads with information and other replies - is not worth the ability to remove a post due to "accident". Not to mention, deletions and edits after the fact - like sir-understeer mentioned, can leave threads useless and confusing.

We have a moderation team of over 15 moderators and support staff, duplications and closes can be dealt with very quickly.
