Default Spawnpoint - new anti-cheat league?

Hey,

I have a suggestion for the owners of Spawnpoint.com. Spawnpoint is a pretty big gaming community. You guys have tons of servers - particularly Counter-Strike: Source ones.

A great idea would be making a Spawnpoint league (maybe something similar to ESEA).

You should release prizes for users that are on top charts (frags, etc...) and you could charge for ''premium membership'' to play in these leagues (or you make it free and sponsor it with advertising).

You would need your own *VERY WELL BUILT* custom anti-cheat. Looking at current leagues: CAL, Cevo, etc.. they have pretty crappy anti-cheats. Even the infamous ESEA client is horrible (and it IS possible to cheat in ESEA even though they claim it isn't).

Your anti-cheat would have to inject into Counter-Strike: Source preventing hooking from other cheats, check cfgs for ''illegal'' scripts, enforce model and material consistency (DO NOT RELY on SV_PURE. Horrible considering it can be bypassed), and work with the VAC2 client from Valve. (ESEA is not compatible with VAC2 - lol's).

I would be the first to sign-up as a developer for your "anti-cheat". I am a guru in Visual Basic coding (ROFL! But, anything done in any other language can be done in VB :P) and pretty decent in C++ and Java. I also pretty knowledgeable on hacking software.

--------

Post any comments regarding this idea. I think it would hit off pretty fast. I would recommend keeping the existing servers without having a client prerequisite and making a new network of "anti-cheat" servers (where client is required to connect and play).

Its not impossible to hack, its just very easy to get caught. Making a ladder is up in the air if im correct but making somethign on the scale your talking about would take a lot of effort from the SP guys who already put in a lot of effort in making SP great.

Wrong... If you know how to hack (not use aimbot) and only use wallhacks in Cevo, it can be done.

Rome wasn't built in a day. This is a great idea for Spawnpoint. I'm not asking them to do this immediately. It can be done in 1 year, 2 years, or 10 + years. :P.

While the idea is admirable, I doubt you would be received with open arms after professing a knowledge of hacking, both in general and in Counterstrike.

^_P

I am knowledgeable on Counter-Strike cheating. I've been through this experience before... but many people have. I doubt that someone a part of this community (administrator) hasn't cheated in Counter-Strike at least once (it could be minimal - scripts cheats or something major - aimbot).

I refuse to cheat now because it is pointless. Cheating takes the fun out of the game - you know where everyone is, and you know you can beat them.

I personally joined ESEA to limit the amount of cheating.

To discuss about "general" hacking, I have no idea where I mentioned that. I explained that I know how to code, but that doesn't make me a hacker in real-life.

To play on the "anti-cheat" servers, one would have to download the Spawnpoint Client. Through the client, you will be able to connect and play. You would NOT be able to play without the anti-cheat client.

The servers will be hosted in different locations - US, Europe.

The tournament for "prizes" will be on-going (will continue to go). An example would be, the person with the highest FRAGS for the month of December will get an 9800 Graphics card or something like that.

Yeah, I am not cheating. I wouldn't consider playing with "cheats" on Counter-Strike "hacking" because downloading a cheat and playing with it requires no skill. I am pretty good with the Scout, and even better with the AWP :P.

Well dude CEVO is a paid league which you have to pay $20 entry fee to play in..

With that said, the players obiously would not want other teams to come out hacking and just throw away their money. Cevo has a verry good ACS system. Expecially for Cevo-pro it is definatally impossible to hack because the players are the best and they are being watched live and on sourcetv and by a good acs system. They also go to lans probrobly every other weekend and play at the same skill level. They practice 5 + hours daily.

Trust me that they do not hack. Maybe in CAL but for sure not in CEVO

Cevo has hackers.

Maybe not in their professional league, but in Cevo-A (some exist). CAL is full of hackers especially CAL-O.

And yeah, $20 is nothing. It's really cheap compared to the prizes you can receive if you win a division of Cevo.

I am suggesting that the future Spawnpoint service (if it happens) to be free. Revenue can be generated through advertising (client based ads or ads on servers) and sponsorship.

Those are certainly some interesting ideas, but I'd recommend only using the anti cheat clients only during actual competitions and not all the time as most people simply won't take the time to download extra software just to play a game. Hopefully I'll see you back on 174.5 soon as I always enjoy the challenge of playing someone who is legitimately better than me.

Oh, and also VAC compatability is not really a major issue as VAC bans do not take effect immediately. So long as the sever is still secured by VAC (as in everyone who's been VAC banned cannot play there) it shouldn't really be an issue.

You have no idea at all do you..? You can cheat easily in any league, it's harder to get caught in some than others. Stop thinking ACS is actually doing something it's more of a placebo. CEVO is very possible to cheat in. There's been accusations of someone in a very well known clan who might hack. The only way to know is if they attend a LAN, and even in LAN's people are dumb enough to cheat, search it on youtube. I know you've seen the kid's PC get smashed in the parking lot after they catch him hacking at a LAN. Cheating happens way more than you think, but it's not like it's half of the league.

coding programs or even websites are not very easy let alone coding an ACS(speaking from personal experience in school).
