my latency seems to never get better... its alway high 80's and somtimes jumps up into the high 100's... any help?

If you have a Anti virus program, that Sometime cause Ping an framerate problems, or if your downloading stuff that could be a the main problem there.

I always exit out of music downloading and itunes and these stuffs. Be sure that your not downloading like music or videos. It helped me a lot.
And type normal rates in console-> 9999 / 20 / 30. Maybe this will help a bit. Dont know.

Well, depending on whether he has dial up, or what speed broadband connection you have.

If you have at least a 2mbps (mega bits per second) connection speed, you should try this instead:

rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 67
cl_updaterate 67

Most of our servers are 66 tic rate servers, meaning 66 tic in and out, and the cmdrate controls the tic from your computer to the server, and updaterate controls the tic from the server to your computer.

Having those 2 at 67 will give you the best shot registration on the servers, and the rate should help you with your lag issues (if you are suffering from these).

also the location of the server can depend on your latency, i think its the signal it sends to and from the server point, as i live in leeds i use the london server and usually pick up a ping of about 27

so maybe try a different server, if you click the tab that says latency you can order them in ascending order of what your approx ping would be there should be servers that will have some low, and some high depending on there location and server stats.
