Gaming Server For XBOX 360 or PS3

Hi my buddy just came back from Europe and while he was there he saw a gaming server that supports the XBOX 360 and I am told a PS3 console.

The idea being that a backend PC server would hold store the games as ISO ( or whatever) and the endeuser could connect to the back end server via the console and play the games.

The setup was used to host local games on the internal LAN. But they said you could allow groups to connect to the Internet and play each other as well.

Has anyone heard of such a thing and can you tell me where I can get more info on this.

Hmm, Weird......

I only thought the Administratos of Xbox Live & PS Network would have access to that kind of software.
