Banned wrong player... somehow

K so here's the deal, speed/aim hacker comes on, i copy in his steam id cause he has no name, forgot to use admin menu, anyways.. "ma_ban "STEAM_0:x:xxxxxx" etc, but i forgot to add another quote on it, so it shouldnt have worked but it banned a completely different person who's steam id is *mod pm me*, but i also did an "ma_unban "steamid_x:x:xxxxx"" with the other quote, and it says that id is unbanned, but with no confirmation, if he unbanned? *sigh* I still dont understand how it banned this other dude tho, steam id starts and ends differenlty :S


this is on the evolutiongaming.nl server too, btw.

It's a bug. Avoid banning by id unless you are certain you are doing it 100% right because this will happen again. I've done the same.

I am not sure if the bug is on Mani, I think it is just AMX. I have managed to permanently ban myself from a server, don't feel to bad bout' it. Unban him as soon as you can though

Use the command exactly as shown there, he should be unbanned upon the next server restart (Somtime early morning...3am or so...)

I unbanned someone also and received similar message from the mani-admin plug in. Typically, it takes at least over night when server resets for unban to take place. Had similar issue couple weeks ago when 3 players were accidentally banned while attempting to ban hacker by another admin on the server. The 3 banned players were from same clan and playing the next evening. Hopefully, the banned player will return and know that it was a mistake. Your doing the right thing.

i did that, so everything should be hood, hopefully i didnt scare him off with my accidental ban. thx to both of you, i was quite worried for a bit.

what is the correct way to ban with command for amxmodx? i can't get it to work.

either ban via the menu, or ban using the name.

amx_ban name time [reason]

if you are going to ban by steam id, you have to make sure you have quotes around the steam id. Even then I am not 100% certain it will work properly. And when banning by name, be sure to include enough of the name so that it does not resemble the name of any other players present, but the whole name is not needed.
