If you banned through amxmodmenu it defaults to just a 5 minute ban. If you look, option 8 or 9 will say Ban 5 minutes, press 8 or 9 and it will change to ban 10 minutes, continue pressing until you see "permanent"

I have a similar problem with a guy on the 24/7 assault server mr me, you know the one I mean. A guy by the name of O Rly was speed hacking a few weeks ago so I banned him (perma). He was back in the server again today under a different name (which I didn't realise till now when I checked the stats)looking fishy as anything spraying myg0t sprays everywhere, and following thoughts fromthe other thread I banned him again. A) for the myg0t affiliation and B) because he was blatantlyaim botting.

How did he get back in? Thats what I want to know. When I banned him I used the console command with his steamid so I don't understand whats going on? Can hacks get you around bans, like autobuy can get you an awp sometimes when its banned?

Plus is steambans back online and accepting demosnow, don't kow if I missed this, but the last few bans have been without demos etc as I was still under the impression that they were down.

Steambans is still down due to a unresolved bug in Steam. There is still the potential of Steam ids being incorrectly assigned. There is hope on the horizon on this though, and the people over at Steampowered.com are aware of the porblem. Even if they don't ever really reply in their forums. As for hackers getting around bans, there are a few different ways that I have heard rumors of. Mostly stemming from exploited bugs in the steam software. For now, all you can do is keep banning them. You can also try banning them via their ip. This may be an option available on the admin menu, but if not, try using the console command for it. To determine the exact command for the mod you are using, use the appropriate help command in the console. For instance, amx_help and amx_banip for the amx mod.

they might be using xfire to get back in. there is a bug so that vac2 cant pick it up. i dont know why that is. i saw it off of the mygot website.

When you do status in console you onlyget their steamid how do u ban by ip if there is no way of seeing it?

yes, you are. example: amx_banip Shinogana

That is one way. Or type in there steam id or user id number. The point is you don't need to know their ip to ban their ip. They can change their ip too, but this just gives them more work to come back in.

the best bans are the manuel bans amx_ban. it seems to me sometimes the bans in the amxmenu don't always stick

Thats insulting! Of course I permanently banned, but even if I did forget, amx wont let you ban for 20 seconds, which is the ammount of time before he reconnected

So I'm in the server today, as usual..... There's a guy speed hacking, pointed out to me by both his team mates and also my team mates. I thought, hey I'll give him a chance to turn them off, so in admin talk let him know that I was onto him and could he pls turn them off. He continued, so I moved to speccie to make a recording and then ban him.

When I use the command (ma_ban after trying with banip and it not working) and a paste of his steam id gathered from "status" 2 of the regulars get mysteriously banned and not him. So I had to go and unban the steam id's of them (fortunately they were there when I typed status in the 1st place), there he is still playing. So this time I used the admin menu and did it that way. Silly me however didn't write down the dam ID as I was getting holla'd at by all peeps on the server to do something quickly... His name, quite surprisingly was LOSER, if you see him, pls add the ID in here so other admins can keep him off there servers aswell.

Anybody heard of this happening before? I hope the regulars try to come back and see that it was a mistake, I wondered if perhaps they would post here and I could let them know but no luck yet. Maybe they will read this...

I tried bannind sombody by SteamID instead of through the menu system once (namechange hack) in AMX mod. The second I hit enter I got perma banned. Hehe, I get mocked for that to this day
