Am I wrong here?

Just signed up to the forums so I could ask this question.

I was just playing on the PHXX Assault Server (ip 69.90.174.5:27015). During the course of a few rounds, I was guarding the vents by crouching on the boxes outside the lower vent. Some guy named Axium?? was camping the down portion of UV at the same time.

NmE was playing and issued multiple warnings saying "Don't camp vents" or something to this effect, to which I asked if he was talking to me within the first message, no reply. Fast forward a few rounds and I'm on fire losing armor because I was "camping" vents.

I have yet to see any rules that say I can't camp where I was, nor have I seen another admin go to burning without having first warned someone BY NAME. NmE completely ignored (or didn't see, I'll be fair) the person camping in UV and instead burnt me.

I've got no gripes with NmE or any other admin on that server, I just want to find out of I was actually in the wrong here.

As for vent camping, you may actually camp the lower portion of the vent (despite me personally believing you shouldn't be allowed to). If you were only camping lower vent or the boxes then you did not break a rule. After being burnt did you disrespect NME or politely confront him? Hope that helps.

All servers wheher clan-run or not are governed by the SpawnPoint rules, available here:

As far as I'm aware, camping on the boxes near the lower vent entrance is fine, Terrorists camping in uppervent by the ladder is not.

Please note, i wasnt on the server at the time, so i'm only going by what netzero has said.

I'm sure NmE will be on if an explaination is needed.

I must of missed that by a few minutes, i came in when Nme was just leaving...hum there is also a chance he might of confused you with the person that was UV camping, it has happened to me a few times, and as admins, you should understand that we are constantly bombarded with messages and requests from every player, trying to get something out of us that will benefit them. It is alsovery possible he might of not seen your messages, as when i went in the server, he wasnt answering me either.

Camping vents (NOT Uppervent) is allowed, and i agree with stabby when i say i dont think it should be, but it is....you were not in fault.

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure I was in the clear, just wanted to clarify. I understand the burden on admins and so I harbor no hard feelings. This incident is certainly not going to keep me from frequenting that server (I've got to break the top 20 again after all).

You did the right thing by coming to the forums to discuss this. It is impossible for admin to know someone is in the upper vent campingif the admin is playing on the map unless someone gives the admin a heads up or admin player dies and starts to spec.

I believe I was in game when this happened...although I was not aware this had happened. If you look above the forums, there is a web button labeled FAQ
Click on that, and scroll for the PDF's that say Server Rules and the Acceptable/Not Acceptable Camping Guide. Read those two, and that should give you a good idea as to what is ok and what isn't. If I see you in game later, I will talk to you there about the FAQ's as well.
