wow, i just got banned... 24/7 dust

I was just playing on a 24/7 dust spawnpoint server. sorry, i forgot to look at the IP before I quit. We were having fun. I knifed the admin 2 rounds back and he and another guy started jokingly saying "oooo i'm pissed now". A round later I shot admin again, and pre-emptively said what I was expecting to hear. Here is a copy+paste from the console:

Now obviously I was having a jab at him, but it wasn't condescending and certainly not spiteful. At the very least I don't think it deserved a no-warning kick/ban--correct me if i'm wrong on that.

I had been trying to play fairly on the server. Earlier the teams ended up stacking to 7 vs 4 in favor of T, so I volunteered to switch to CT, as I do on most servers when teams get stacked. I was having fun, and at nobodys expense.

Hopefully given the admins name, it can be figured out what server it was on, and I can get knocked off the ban list. Thanks!

After rereading my post, i just noticed it was only a 5 minute temp ban, so I guess it isn't an issue as far as spawnpoint ban list goes. Still, I'm a little surprised at the admins attitude and way of dealing with players.

Even if the admin said it was a perma ban, it would only last 8 hours unless you were demoed and found to be a hacker

Somethings about this...did the admin over-react?.... yes...do I know the whole story?...no...does norm try hard to follow the rules?...yes every time I see him on....should we look into this?...absolutely.

Norm, we are going to have to insist on having a demo of these kind of things to do any real discipline. I know you for a good guy, but we can't take people's words for things.Even wehave to submit a hacker demo to get someone globally banned. We will keep our eye on this but we can't take any real action without a demo. (like a hacker demo with sb_status and ma_users if someone has admin on that server) If one of the staff or senior admins sees this too, we might be able to speed it up some. You can be sure I will be ghosting that server under an alias now. I hope you understand we need to do these kind of things "by the book".

I don't know how I could have taken a demo. I wasn't banned for hacking, but playfully telling an admin "qq". I was kicked and banned before I could get to the console. Every admin I've encountered at spawnpoint have always been very professional and never let their emotions get in the way of their administration. This just seemed like a very odd reaction for a spawnpoint admin, and certainly against regular protocol for dealing with folks.

I probably wouldn't have even posted it had I realized it was only a 5 minute ban before hand. As it is, I only noticed it after the fact, because apparently I'm blind. (which many folk who have seen me play will say is a distinct possibility )
