Ban Protest

Hi guys I'm here to protest a ban.

Well I've been banned from SpawnPoint servers for quite a while now and I believe it was due to using some form of that old scripting nonsense called LUA. I want to say that I don't do any of that stuff any longer, and don't think it even functions nowadays. So I'm hoping that this ban will be lifted because I just want to come back in and play as a clean player.

Sincerely,

Iceman327069

Hi Iceman,

You were automatically banned by our anti cheat / anti exploit plugin for using a "Disconnect Exploit". This does apparently require LUA, so it is a LUA related ban.

We'll discuss your ban appeal and post back here when we have reached a decision. It may take a few days so thank you for your patience in the mean time.

I also moved your appeal to the correct forum.

We have discussed your ban and decided that your ban will remain in place.

While we will unban people on appeal who were simply using LUA, you were banned for using it to deliberately crash one of our servers. This is a clear violation of our terms of service and generally very annoying.

Thank you for your polite appeal, but you will need a new SteamID if you want to play on our servers again.

I can honestly say that I had no intention of crashing any server. The execution of the script was an accident. What happened was I downloaded one of those packages of scripts which had for example a zoom script, bunny hop script, name change script, and cross hair changer. Apparently this package also contained malicious scripts that would crash a server upon execution. I honestly must have pressed a wrong button on the interface while trying to use one of the other legal scripts. I've invested a great deal of time into these servers by recording demos of rule violators, hackers as well as by banning them. I'm hoping that the positive impact I've made will change this decision.

I suggest just don't use any scripts as you don't no whats in there and just play the game as valve intended. This way you will not get banned from any other Community Server's, may this be a lesson learned.

Your post was quite irrelevant and holds no significance because LUA no longer functions. That was already aforementioned. I don't really appreciate your smug remark "let this be a lesson to you" especially when you hold no authority.

Okok, let's not start a pissing fight on the forums. We have enough issues with pointless posts as is.

Ace, this is still an RAI and posting is limited to those involved and staff members. In the future, if you have something to say/add and you were not directly involved, either consult a senior admin or start another thread with reference to the thread in question.

Ice, let's not be rude. He is, in a way, right: you got yourself into this mess. There are also other ways to script besides LUA, a quick Google will show you that. Bunny Hopping and special crosshairs are nice and all, but, unless you're writing the code yourself, you don't know what else could have been put in. It's better to not stick your finger in a clear fluid to see if you're right about it being concentrated HCl, you know? You could be wrong, but being right means losing a finger.

...(I might have that metaphor backwards... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
