Am I Bad?

A couple of friends of mine split up recently after years together. My first thought when they split up was "oh cool, now I won't feel so guilty about sleeping with her", does this make me a bad person?

Joking. But I was surprised at my reaction because I was sort of secretly pleased. Maybe I like her more than I thought.

If you're bestfriends with the guy, he would probably feel jealous if youstarted something withhis old girl which would be akward. Oh watch out, she might come close to you if she feel like "getting back" at him. She might do it to make him feel jealous that she took his friend, as revenge.

At least, it happens to me all the time, or I like to think it does.

I married my best friends gf after they dated for over a year in undergrad. It was awkward as hell for awhile, particularly when he and I were roommates, but we all made peace and he was a groomsman in our wedding. However, I am pretty sure this is more the exception than the rule.

Give it some time. You don't want to be the rebound guy. That usually doesn't work out too well. After some time has passed, if you are still interested in persuing this girl, have a talk with your friend first. I'm not saying you have to ask his permission (as it is not his to give, it's hers), but don't blindside him by asking her out without at least having the courtesy to let him know your feelings.

And to answer your question...No, you are not bad!!

I would agree that running it by your buddy is the best idea. Definately not for permission, but just so he does not have to hear it from someone else. It'll make your life a whole lot easier if you do not have to sneak around like a Succubus Hunter.

HA! I love it, so honest. I think it's natural/instinct to think like that. My friend was put in a similar position, this is what I told him, "If you love her, then go for it. If you don't then leave it because it's not worth losing a friend over a one night fling" A month later they get together, they are still dating. Now they aren't friends anymore, it sort of broke the friends group into two. Who knows though, that might not happen to you :>
