Default I has a situation...
Well,I'm 14 (8th grade) and coming up soon is a dance/formal or whatever. I really dislike school events and dances, especially since its 'formal'. But here is my situation.

I have a friend (a girl) friends with one who I'm supposed to go with. But my friend who i'm not going with is the one who lied[nicest way to put it] to her and said i would go with her. But as i said i don't like things like this. So short story, I'm supposed to go with this girl i'm friends with nothing special...but i don't want to.

What should i do?


ps. reason this is hard for me, is i don't like upsetting people. and i don't know what would happen...

pps. not really relationship but, figured best place for it...

I personally would go....and try to have a good time.... maybe you'll regret it if you don't go. Tell her that you don't enjoy going to these things and your going to it for her. She'll be pleased. Fo' sho',,

I have to agree with Titan on this one. Since you dont want to go you shouldnt go. Especially if there was a lie involved the truth will go a long way.

P.S: I'm not saying you might not regret it because you might... but if you go with that attitude in mind you will not have fun no matter what because you already have the assumption in your mind that you wont have fun.

I would agree with this SMIG. If you decide not to go though, make sure you let her know as soon as possible. Do not let her think that you are going and then spring it on to her at the last moment. Clear things up...be honest.

Nah roll with TITAN and Pwnz on this one man. Keeping crap to yourself and just going along with what others want so you dont "upset" them is a good way of slowly but surely killing off little pieces of yourself. And I'm being totally serious here. Unless both people are sharing what they're feeling, one will hold out, and the other will notice. Then neither of you are going to have a good time... ever... So STOP IT! Suck it up and talk about your feelings ya big ninny....

Agreed your right you shouldn't hide your feelings although attempting new things is not always bad either, I would suggest going seeing how you find it if you dont like it then say but if you have an awesome time then win win

i dunno smiggy...they might be right about being honest..as thats often the best route to take..

on the other hand i went with the daughter of my mom's friend to prom last year (i had a gf at the time and hate that kind of stuff so i was just being nice) and ended up having a pretty good time and got to meet some cool people because it was at another school...just shows that sometimes things dont turn out as badly as you think they will
