i have a best friend whose dating my ex gf (we dated for a good 9 long months lil off and on like short breaks)

would you think that it is a bad thing w/ ur best friend or is it ok

I think your friend should have talked to you out of respect before dating your ex-gf. This is a situation that could likely cause strain between you and your friend.

I know guys are not prone to talk about things like this, but, if your friendship means anything - you need to talk to him. Let him know that it bothers you that he is dating her.

As I have mentioned in a few forums before, I married my best friend's ex-gf. They dated on and off for a few years in undergrad. It was a very odd situation, as I lived with the guy my senior year when we started dating. We snuck around for awhile and finally she sat down and talked to him. He obviously knew what was going on, but it was hard to talk to him about it, when we did not yet know what "it" was.

In hindsight, I think it is respectful to ask the "ex" for permission, but he is pretty much required to say "yes" after a cooling down period. It is nice to have your feelings considered.

Yeah as best friends there should be some kind of ground rules about this kinda thing.. i know me and my mates have one, and not to date girls that others had a serious relationship with.

but seriously, it's never cool to hook up with one of your buddies ex's - my best friend told me that he'd cut my achilles tendon if he ever heard that i'd been with one of his ex's (and did he have some HOT ex's).

that's a golden rule - and you don't break golden rules.

Well not to be a a-hole about this, but why should any one care about there Ex g/f, there not dating each other anymore and if they have one right now who care who there ex go's out with.

well when it comes to ex gf or bf dating your bff it is a big deal and i have to agree to talk ot your bff and let em know how you feel cuz i dont see it going well with your ex dating your bff cuz your bff might get on your ex's side.

thanxs its all good, stuff happenes and that lifes and it'll be alright, life will go on and they'll be other girls out there, but im still friends w/ my ex and he's still my best friend

i have the same situation going on with me.My friend didn't ask , or even tell me that he liked her, which kinda made me mad ><... but i think all things work out for whats best, now or later. You get what you need, when you need it.
