Often enough, a conversation I am having with the opposite turns into a flirt fest. If I ignore the flirt and keep it casual and somewhat formal, they feel either disappointed or they see me as being "rude."

I've given in to flirting, and they see me as opening the door to a possible relationship. Is there such thing as just enough flirt to have fun without shutting down or opening up? Does this vary on the female in question?

Lol Good question! I think flirting is natural and fun to a degree. (as long as those flirting know that that is what it is). It also depends on how a person sees or feels about flirting. Some people get uncomfortable especially when it's not appropriate (flirting from a boss) :eek: ...There is a point when flirting can turn ugly and turn into a problem. The "flirter" must always be careful so as to not make the "flirtee" uncomfy. ...and PLEASE, PLEASE back off if he/she is not reciprocating! :p

I have had the best luck starting out flirting with eyes...it can be blown off easily and is not intimidating unless you stare. It is subtle and is a good way to find out if they are interested by how hard they were looking for you to start flirting in the first place.

I have two things that almost always work to brek the ice so to speak....

I'm tall, 6'2" and so one tack that I like to use, especially with a tall lady, is to
say that 'I think tall ladies are awesome' and I can expand on that if the lady
is responsive, if not, oh well.

Secondly, my sweet daughter had freckles so I might say 'your freckles are
awesome or wonderful or....' and the reactions I have received vary all over
the place.

Lastly, if the lady is tall AND has freckles, well WOW! LOL

So for my first turn in the barrel here, maybe something along these lines
might be helpful to others or as a guideline. BTW I only say these things
with my heart....
