Let's not get into that.... one of the only reasons the US waited so long to get into that war was to get the most out of supplying the first half of it...
The protectionist/isolationist movement was very strong in the US at the time... a prevalent "Not our problem" kind of attitude... the people needed to beconvinced to go to war...Roosevelt was an awesome president though... he was just waiting for an excuse to get the US into Europe.. . . And the US knew that by coming in last, it would be maximizing it's gains from the war... Germany was the US's bitch forawhile with reparation payments etc.. haha

I think by saying thatthe USwaited to maximize its gains in WWII iscomparingthat administration to the current administration. People were just different back then. I am surprised that you couldn't "see" the tongue in my cheek during that last response about speaking German.....and convienently left out the part where I said we love England too...

On a completely different note...we had to pay war reparations to Japan....didn't they attack us? and yea, yea, yea we lit off 2 really big firecrackers over 2 of their cities, but think of the US lives saved by not having to make Japan surrender by conventional means. (of the time)

I am not Canadian and have not spent a lot of time there. I went to Niagra falls once...Both sides looked the same. I once heard some canadian politician had big problems due to some affair he had. I also heard story's about parts of Canada wanting to break away and form their own country. They want to speak French I think. I thought America was the only place that had political problems. Of course no one in the USwants to start another country. How do you duplicate the best. I know a lot of Canadians come to the South of our country for vacation. They are very welcome and spend lots of money here. None of them are poor. Do they have poor people in Canada? According to what I see....everybody must be loaded. Must be nice. Maybe its because of all the great, free Health Care. Those Canadians that come here use our health care system while they are here. Do they die a lot when they are here? I dont think so...they dont go home to cure the probelm. As for our poor...I come from a family that had no money. We lived in a tenement in NYC. My Grandparents were immigrants and it was a slow hard start. No one died for lack of health care and generations of poor people became middle class or even rich. Hard work..the American way...Today I am retired and iving the American dream. That type of thing goes on here all the time. As for America helping out the rest of the world...Thats a no brainer. It's a good thing Canada is on the same continent as us or they would be speaking a different language. Not that they didnt stand up and be counted...they did but the good old USA was and still is ther power that protects so many.

if you're retired, you should think about working on reducing the amount of ignorant crap you post.

Who's language exactly? not english, do you mean we'd be speaking British? come on. .. .you're acting like a stereotype!

from who? who is threatening the world with domination that the good old US of A must flex its muscles to keep in line? The koreans? the chinese? the indians? the pakistanis? the iranians?

If you're referring to WWII, I had a teacher who suggested that if the US had jumped into the war at its starting point, when Germany invaded Poland, the war would never have gotten global.

Please don't think I'm implying that WWII is the fault of the USA, I'm just making a counter point to the generalization above..

anyway... You typed alot mikesack, but I didnt really hear you say anything....

I was just responding to some of the points I read all through this thread. #1...As for the USA jumping in at the beginning of the wwll...your right. People were saying the same thing you just said. Who is going to dominate us...Germany? Japan? Like now...(China, the Indians, Pakistan etc. etc.)were safe here. Lets not flex our muscles. Most Americans didnt want to get involved in a war. So you say we should have flexed our muscle sooner? Yet all you hear now is America is too pushy and throws to much weight around...Were war mongors. Which is it? Damned if you do.....damned if you dont. As for Germany being our bitch ...East Germany was not...How good did they do all those years until now.
Canada....I read things like...There are so many more poor people in this country... As there are. There are also a lot more that are not poor. It seems like more poor people are trying to get here then to any where else...How come?....people here are not as free as they are in Canada ( thats why I brought up the attempts by so many people in Canada to start a diff country) How free are they?....Health care is not as good in the USA... Canadians get the same health care as we do when they are here. They do just fine. Health care is expensive here. We could just put taxes through the roof and have Canadian style health care. I myself like that idea.
Ignorant crap? Not so ignorant... America is the big guy on the block. Like it or not...thats a fact. You can pick away at her all you want but thatsnot going to change any time soon. if that bothers you...."Beware what you wish for".

srry ancient, I wasnt refering to his defense of america as ignorant, I was trying topoint out the groundless 'facts' he was repeating... When your countrymen speak up like that, it reinforces the stereotype that you're all that way; ignorant and uncaring... which is definitly not true. Ppl poke fun at amercia because its easy, thats all. It's like having a fat friend. *laff*

anyway, this thread was doomed from the start... [&:]

LOL....were two the same....Mike Sack and Ancient Admin. My point was...both times....we do catch a lot of flack from around the world. So much of it is untrue. It kind of reminds me of the rag magazines and the way some of the stories in them are just made up to sell. Some are based on truths..some are vastly exaggerated. When Americans are unassuming...were arrogant...when were loud...The ugly American...when were rich...Ugghhhh..When were poor...we are being depressed. And so on. Your right...we are the fat friend i guess. As for me....My biggest problem is my spelling!

I'm English and when i hear anyone say God bless America, I always think what about me?. Kind of rude asking God to bless a specific country if you ask me. Might as well say God bless America and no one else because thats what it sounds like to the rest of the World.

For the record I wouldn't want to live in the US. And I'm not just saying that because they won't let me enter the country due to aprevious drugs conviction.

Check out some scary States based stats at [link=http://www.nitwitnation.com/]http://www.nitwitnation.com/[/link].
