So my tax dollars is going to this? What a waste.
YouTube - Episode #165 - Death of a Clunker - Cash for Clunkers
Great idea!! Isn't this how we got into this mess? Lets entice people to take more loans that they can't payback.....It's the Marxist's plan to have dependence on Government... It will only get worse..

I wouldn't say it's a marxist plan of any kind. Governments on the left and right of the political spectrum around the world have introduced similar schemes to get people spending again.

It's all about getting some cash flowing through the car industry again and the economy in general. Our whole economy is based on a flow of money, as soon as this stops then there are problems.

I don't really like the idea of bailing out banks and other businesses but the alternatives were far worse. If you let banks go bust then everyone will panic to get their money out of all the other banks and the whole system collapses taking millions of peoples savings and countless businesses with it. There would have been riots in the streets. That's why the republicans were bailing out these banks too.

Obama is doing ok. He's taking action in some important areas that really need sorting out, like the economy, health care and the environment. Although by the time anything gets through the system it will probably be too watered down to do enough.

You missed the point. This was in the possesive tense- Marxist's

No this is a auto bailout wrapped in disguise. Instead of Joe the plumber spending money in the private sector such as fixing up his house he takes another loan he cannot afford to pay and send the money to a failing GM.

Doing ok? How do you spend your way out of a recession? Do you know what the deficit is? Who's going to pay for this? Just wait till they start raising taxes and inflation hits.

The healthcare bill is a joke- nobody read it including the President. How's that for doing your job?

Ok got you now: this is totally incorrect. Investing in banks and getting them new funds is something that NEEDS to be done. The whole of Europe has done it and here in Belgium the government also invested billions of euro's (4.7 billion payed to Fortis & 1.1 to Dexia).
So what are you saying now? The whole world is doing the wrong thing? Man, you just prove you know nothing about the financial crisis worldwide. You think the problem only excists in US? Wake up, partner! Everyone is suffering from it, but the big difference is: we don't complain. I know this is a rough period for every normal-earning civilian. I don't really suffer from it tbh though: I got a contract in the army till I retire at 56 and I can't be fired unless I get convicted for illegal things, which I obviously wouldn't even think off.
But many friends of me lost their jobs. Do you think that's because of the government, the president or no matter what? Of course not: it's the over confident attitude of the multinationals who created this. Taking over other companies, expecting people will keep buying your products, insane investments + last but not least: all companies try to get as much profit as possible but present products as cheap as possible. When the employees start to complain & strike to get better payments the real trouble begins... Raising salaries means billing that loss to the customers. Do costumers just nod their heads, take out some more cash & buy the product? Ofc not... People are very sensitive to this, if one product becomes more pricy suddenly they just switch to another brand which leads to less profit etc etc... I don't see your point of how you think that's Obama's or doesn't matter which world leader's mistake.

About your health care system I can't tell anything since it's totally different here. Belgium is (dito with Cuba) one of the best countries to live for the social security. Every Belgian inhabitant who visits the doctor pays +- 20€ and gets back over 70% of that from the state funds. Same with hospital costs etc etc... So I guess we cannot compare the systems of our countries. Luckily!

Not gonna make this much longer since I feel I've already proven my point here and no idea how old you are, but I have the feeling you're not very well informed about certain matters. I must say I like politics very much and I believe in a socialist way of thinking were everyone is equal (no matter what sex, race, color, religion, sexual orientation or background you have) and where the rich pay more than the average man. It's not fair that a person who earns €1.500 pays the same as someone who earns €5000 a month. When I wanna ride a car it costs me €850 insurance + €140 taxes a year. If a millionaire buys the same car, he pays the same; not very correct in my eyes. Also when I drive too fast and get a €100 fine that's a 1/15th of my salary. The rich guy who drives with his Porsche and makes the same mistake pays the same €100... Hilarious.
Many more examples like this but you get my point...

Thanks for replying, makes this topic interesting to follow :)

I agree on that, it's not normal that they keep borrowing cash to fill the gaps everywhere.
But the sad thing is: all countries suffer the same problem with the crisis. So it's not only the US who's in deep trouble...
Last thing I heard is that the economy should be recovering by middle 2010, so let's be patient ;)

Nice to see he has support from outside the US MiNi. That is something Bush did not have much of.

Well as of Aug. 17th 2009, I am still going "HO-HUM" and yawning....where are the big changes?...still waiting.

Agreed, but isn't the health care thing something big of a change. If I understood it correctly it's a good thing for the less wealthy people. Not too sure though, haven't been able to remain updated on the foreign news lately :(
Anyway, I think Barrack has the potential to make changes and indeed he's three times as popular compared to Bush...
I demand a response from all those who disagree with me!

I think you should watch this documentry : YouTube - The Obama Deception Part 1/12

it's divided in 12 parts because it's an actual movie.

You can't honestly believe anything by Alex Jones! Do you think Obama wants to start some civilian military? Who would these soldiers be? The right wouldn't do it, and the left wouldn't even know how to do it. You are a conspiracy theorist. You don't care if these theories are true or false, it doesn't matter if there is any fact in your crazed theories. You just WANT them to be true, like a crazed religious fanatic denying science for sake of their faith.

Webster Tarpley is a lunatic. He thinks 9/11 was an inside job (it was not) and he thinks almost every major event was actually done by "someone else". "False-Flag" rambling about every assassination...it's just stupid.

Gerald Celente is just a wacko. Numerous people predicted those collapses, it was obvious. He is a regular on Glenn Beck, which takes away his credibility.

JFK was the last real president? We haven't had a "real" president since? We have had garbage for presidents before and after, but we have elected them all. You are stupid for believing that Truman, FDR, Teddy R., Garfield, Mckinley, Wilson, etc were "real presidents" Don't be foolish. Think with your mind, not just with catchy phrases by a mad man (Alex Jones)

Why is a single world government a bad idea? Why is it bad to have a single North American currency? What does it mean if we do it? Do you even know?

Who is this "shadow government"? How do so few know so much about this group? TELL THE PEOPLE! Unless they are stupid and wrong...don't you think a majority of our anti-imperialist, anti-authoritarian, and anti-globalization intellectual community would be behind them? Or do you think these people are wrong? You like the idea of the conspiracy, but there's no fact to it.

About the Obama/clinton meeting, since they were gone for 36 hours, therefore they were committing a conspiracy theory..? STUPID.

George Humphrey is a believer in the Illuminati! So far there hasn't been a single non-conspiracy theorist on this movie!

The Georgian Prime Minister is RUNNING Obama? Really?

ok.....i turned it off when they start saying global warming isn't real. I won't even get into global warming....

On Alex's little rant on taxation; taxation isn't a tool of oppression when it comes to carbon caps and that stuff. That is proper taxation! Proper in the sense that it is doing what taxation was meant to do; taxes produce change. We need the change in our manufacturing process and it won't happen anytime soon without taxation on carbon emissions. Those taxes will create more efficient ways to use natural resources. Lets say we raised the tax on...wasted food (quick example and i hope it works), wouldn't you stop wasting food if you had to pay a tax on it? Bad example, but it claims the same thing.

Just to inform the hopeful readers on my political leaning -- I didn't vote for Obama. I voted for Ralph Nader. The Democract/Republican party system is a duopoly that we actually do control. Our government is actually a democracy (a republic), in the sense we really do get to pick our representation. If you people took the same time in reading about conspirac theories as you did in kicking out your bad congressmen and senators, maybe we wouldn't have the mess we have now. The president's power is extremely limited...CHECKS AND BALANCES! Both the two major parties are actually part of a single party -- the Business Party. This should be accepted, we just have a liberal and conservative side to the same party. None of these videos really do anything besides make people paranoid and scared.

To those that actually believe in the NWO and all that B.S. What are YOU doing about it? You aren't doing a thing...besides talking on a VIDEO GAME FORUM. That takes most of your credit away (I know im doing the same, i just had to respond to this). If I honestly believed that the world was controlled by these mysterious secret societies, I would grab a gun and start the revolution. Since you people actually believe in these conspiracy theories, wouldn't that make you all cowards? What is worse? Doing nothing and not knowing, or knowing and sitting on your ass playing counter-strike all day as your country is being overthown be a neo-hitler dictator that wants to control the world through the banks and the federal reserve is dictating our lives and the military industrial complex is starting wars and private armies are going to overthrow our democracy and all assassinations are conspiracy theories and every elected official is actually a pawn to the banks/corporations and that america has made FEMA camps to put YOU in jail and 9/11 was an inside job and global warming is a lie to take away your freedom and the government wants to take away your guns (i have friends with Uzis and no one has ever tried to take those away, where is this fear from?) and small communist countries are making Obama their puppet and........doesn't it seem a little bit out there now? why aren't you blowing up the white house? Oh, that's right, you actually don't believe it, you just find it romantic to think that it could be true. You are reactionary, not revolutionary. You are simple minded in your intellectual pursuits because you believe a moron on internet radio. You people disgust me.

I won't even spell check this because I don't even care if you read it or not. The ones who believe in Alex Jones probably don't even read anyway.

While I admire your passion and respect your opinion, I am going to have to insist that your future posts refrain from calling people stupid or other personal insults. We don't mind if you disagree and call a policy stupid, just don't call others stupid that don't agree with your point of view. Thanks.

I think Obama is starting to find that all this change he wanted to do is a little harder to get put into law than he may have thought. Seems he's finding it difficult to get things through congress and senate without having to water them down and have a bunch of ammendments added.

Idealism and ideas for change are all well and good, but now he's got to show that he's the political know how and strength to get those into law.

He's also finding that communicating his ideas isn't as straightforward as it should be. The uproar over healthcare demonstrates that rather well:

"I want to extend medical insurance so that everyone has it"
"you want to put my downs syndrome child in front of a death panel!"
"er...?"
"OMG! He wants to kill babies"

The problem I am seeing is that he is just looking like the spokesman for the real people running things. He is an excellent speaker, handsome and intelligent....but it doesn't look to me like he is running anything. It looks like things or people are running him. I realize he walked into a cluster you-know-what that he inherited from Dubya, and maybe no one can make change happen in that cesspool of partisan politics with any kind of speed. Still feel very "Ho-Hum" about him.

I'm sorry, but being a NJ resident since birth, I have to throw in my two cents. Obama recently stated tha NJ Gov. Jon Corzine is "key to his own agenda." I'm sorry but what the @%*&$!!!!!!!!!! Corzine is this states worst and most corrupted governor I've ever seen, sad thing is, nobody knows about it. He got elected because he was wealthy and people thought because of this he wouldnt sap every penny this state had left for himself. What did he do? Well of course he raised the tax from 6 to 7%, has cut education funding to the point where the public schools in the county seat of Sussex cannot afford to buy pencils for their students, and the schools that do receive funding buy 3k "smart boards" (a digital chalkboard pretty much ) instead of new desks and paying for their heating bills. He has shut down state parks that some require less than $15 to run a day to try and releive the pressure on our 3 billion dollar deficit. Our infstructure, just like anywhere else in the U.S. I suppose is falling apart, rural county roads are being closed while Corzine approves multi-million dollar e-z pass booths on a turnpike he is trying to sell. Our unemployment rates have almost hit 10% I believe, and continues to move jobs out of the state. Even the stupid things like how he was involved in an accident with no seatbelt and was never ticketed for it, or things like Kayleighs Law he is trying to pass is just straight up unethical bs. But I guess it's our fault, after all the last election a quater of voters were state workers and I'm sure Corzine paid them off for it. The list of crap goes on and on, s is this something you really want our commander in cheif to base his own agenda around? Because thats what the entire country is headed for if this selfish, elitist LIAR is re-elected and gives Obama that "hope" and motivation he truly needs from NJ. And as XTR3M3 had mentioned that Obama is a puppet for something bigger behind the curtains, google Bilderberger and you'll hear about a lot of familiar names from behind the scenes. (Kathleen Seblius, Clinton, Mr. Corzine, Tim Geithner...)
