Default Sarah Palin as VP

Sarah Palin has been chosen as the Republican VP nominee. She has been the governor of Alaska for 2 years. Thoughts?

What I think is that at the moment they are trying to win over Hillary supporters. I think this because she is always talking about 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling. I don't think this will work mainly because they are opposite in policy. Many Hillary supporters are offended by this or so it seems from the blogs.

If they continue on this path this will lead the Republican into the gutter. A strategy I see working is if they push Palin as a reformer and changer. She helped Alaska out by gaining money but she will look bad by suing to get the Polar Bear off the endangered species list and her pushing to drill in ANWR but that was her pushing the best for Alaska but those might come back to bite her.

Let's hear your opinion.

Personally?

I only think the McCain campaign brought her on to get the female votes but she is opposed to abortion which will cost her dearly in my opinion. Also she is against same sex marriage which is upsetting for me. That and she is under investigation for trying to get her ex-brother in law fired because he was/is going through a nasty custody battle and divorce with her sister. Palin is alleged to have transferred the commissioner of public safety,Walter Monegan, to a job at the state alcohol board last month, after he refused to sack the police official.

So basically, I do not approve of her

McCain was smart to have her on the ticket. Being a female will have the appeal to women and youth will also make her attraction to the younger generation. Her stand on gun rights, same sex marriage, and abortion will keep the conservatives on the McCain side.

The Republicans couldn't afford to have two old white guys on the ticket! Or maybe the Republicans should have offered the VP position to Hillary! LOL!

They're all crooks!!!!!!

One of the main areas of attack I was expecting from the McCain campaign would be Obama's lack of experience making him an unsuitable choice for president. By choosing someone less experienced than Obama as VP they no longer have this area to attack.

If they are hoping that that women will just vote for the party with a women running for high office regardless of policy, then I hope that they will be dissapointed. Maybe it will be enough to persuade some undecided voters but it could also backfire if women voters feel that she was just chosen to get their votes.

I agree, Barack Obama may be deemed as "unexperienced" but Palin is even more so. Heck, I never ever knew who she was until it was announced. I mean of all the states, Alaska??

Also, Barack made a comment after Palin's speech at the RNC stating that he's been campaigning for 19 months whereas Palin has for all of 4 days lol

And yes, I think the only reason a women was selected as VP was to sway the undecided Hilary Clinton supporters. I doubt it will work.

My opinion doesn't matter because I can't vote anyways and I really don't have very much political leanings, but I just want to clear this up. You do realize that Obama is running against McCain right? If you are going to compare experience, compare Obama vs McCain.

Well since you "dont have very much political learnings" I guess you didn't watch the RNC. Palin's speech was mainly a rant about Obama's experience. And just because you are vice president doesn't mean you can be a low-life, non-educated individual...

Just so you know, having no political leanings means I don't sway to the right or the left, not that I don't pay attention to politics...

IMO, the very fact that the Dems keep trying to compare Palin's experience with Obama's leads me to believe that they are running a little scared. One thing does need to be pointed out about that comparison: Palin has executive experience as a governer, while Obama has none. The funny thing is that the Dems are comparing her experience to Obama's. They are not comparing Obama to McCain's experience because there is no comparison.

I am probably not going to vote for either of them because neither of them are close enough to my political stance. I know a vote for any other candidate could be considered a waste, but the Dems and Reps are both so corrupt as parties that I almost can't vote for either of them in good conscience.

Well in comparisons, the same could go for Palin and Joe Biden. Never hear anyone comparing these two, as Biden is the clear cut winner.
