Default High Gas Prices???? . . . just standby!

You think you're paying high price for gallon of gas? Just wait and see what a gallon of gas will cost and a barrel of light sweet crude oil will cost when the U.S. and/or Israel attacks the Iranian nuclear program. One hundred and fifty dollars for a barrel of oil will be cheap compared the pending scenario!

I might as well find a closet at work and set up a cot in it so I don't have to commute 80 miles a day.

Fix your post, it needs to be edited

The only reason why i don't care about the high gas prices is because i don't have a license... neither a permit

George Bush has been the sloppiest President for the United States in my opinion. His lust for war and supremacy has blinded his decisions.

He already messed up with Venezuela and the prices went up like crazy. Now he is about to screw up big time again before leaving office.

That man has gone crazy, and if i am correct i believe congress wanted to impeach him.

This doesn't just affect driving...gas prices/oil prices...affects our heating also. My parents have oil heat...prices are through the roof already and only getting higher. You have to look at the large picture. It's not only affecting the car you're driving (transportation) but also how you heat your home too.

As of today (or yesterday/not sure) milk prices went up 44 cents. Reason? High cost of fuel for transportation of milk. I'm sure many more will follow suit.

Already it's affecting airline prices and flight time too.

Fuel prices are going to go up even if Israel and the US don't attack Iran, demand keeps going up and production levels stay the same.

It's about time we started to break our dependence on oil, even if fuel prices stay the same relying on countries like Venezuela, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Saudi and the other gulf states is asking for trouble. Those nations that aren't outright hostile aren't the most stable in the world, all it takes is a couple of revolutions or concerted attacks on the oil infrastructure and oil prices will rocket.

Car manufacturers could be doing a LOT more for the cars, like Hybrids for example. In the news about 2 months ago were 2 brothers who had a Prius Hybrid. At stock this got about 40-50MPG. They decided to buy a second battery for the car, and just kinda wire it up to the other one and see how it works. It cost them 3,000 dollars to do (cost of battery), and without any further modification, just like that, the car now gets 80-100MPG, and is even more powerful than it was before.

I'm sure Toyota knows this, and they sure as hell could change the battery and just double its capacity, maybe adjust the frame of the car a little to accommodate the extra space+weight. If 2x battery makes this much difference, would 3x? 4x? How much before it becomes a bottleneck? I think 200mpg is a very reachable number using gasoline with todays technology. Hell I've even drawn up a couple ways to do it...

It's things like that that make it harder to get off oil. People would pay the extra 3000-5000 for the extra MPG, hell it would probably sell better than the normal one... It's not like they would make losses in doing this as they could just increase the price of the car accordingly...so why not?

Proof? Mechanic in Ohio gets 110MPG out of his V8 Mustang, 0-60 in 3 seconds...

New Engine Gets 110 Mpg - Videos - WMAQ

What kinda mileage you think that would pull out of a 1.2L 4 Cylinder? If this guy+his granddad can come up with this, why cant the $150/hr super engineers at auto manufacturing plants come up with it. I'm fairly sure the cost to manufacture whatever he has under the hood could probably be done for a little less than a Hydrogen Fuel Cell engine...

Personally I think it's all about money, more so than who's fighting what war where. Greedy little men making billions behind the scenes, using their financial might to hold everyone prisoner.

Sorry if I went a little off topic with that

The irony in the whole gas thing is that this isn't the first time the U.S. has experienced high gas prices. This goes in cycles as in the oil embargo in the 70's, levels out, and increases. The Japanese car manufacturers were in the right place when they were marketing fuel efficient cars for the time period. Basically, we're in the same phase again with Japanese car manufacturers making electric hybrids and better fuel efficient cars. American automobile manufacturers are still stuck making large SUVs and pickup trucks which aren't selling . . . seriously behind the curve.

In regards to the impeachment of the President, yes, several members of Congress have been very vocal for the impeachment process but that's about it. I seriously doubt if that will get anywhere especially after President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal resulted in little legal action in Congress. I think President Bush would have been a good President if 911 didn't happen. I also think Secretary of Defense Rumsfield and VP Dick Cheney are really doing a dis-service to the country and intimitating a lot of the senior military officials at the Pentagon. I know that during the lead up to the Iraq invasion, then Army General Shimenski (sp?) stated it would take 400K plus boots on the ground to hold and maintain Iraq. Rumsfield didn't like the answer and canned the general. Basically, Rumsfield fired anyone/everyone until he got the answer that he wanted. I've also read about the North Korean Dear Leader Kim Il Jong (sp?) and his cult of personality that surrounds him, I think President Bush has the similar groupies too. All of these political "leaders" in my opinion are lowest of the low and that goes for both parties, the Democrates and the Republicans. Most of them are crooks and looking out for themselves, their associates, and their party.

Yes, the price for everything is rising. It's going to be a brutal winter in the Northeast. My monthly oil bill went from ~$150 to $250 per month. I'm estimating I will spend about $4,000 just for heating including oil, electric, and propane this winter season, minimum. Going electric heat isn't the best option either because you have to have a source of energy like oil to make the steam that turns the turbine and generator for electricity.

Unfortunately, it's a single world market for oil. We Americans bitch and moan about the high cost of gas but the rest of the world been paying higher prices. Driving around in large trucks and SUVs. We've shot ourselves in the foot and soon it will a self inflicted sucking head wound. No one wants a new oil refinery in their backyard . . . I think it's been like 20 years (not sure) since a new refinery been built in the U.S. In my state, there was a proposal to build a gas receiving station along the coast but that got shot down because it would ruin the coastline. I say go nuclear, solar, and wind but they are all expensive.

White Pinnacle

P.S. Ever think about a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas. What the heck is that about?!?!?! SUBSIDIES!!!!

Don't be fooled by laying the blame on the government. They are no help with their hands out to big oil companies.(Shell/Esso). We are worried about what high gas prices will do and the effect it will have on the economy. Keep in mind as to who really controls the economy. THE PEOPLE.

Whinning and crying does not get the message across to our governments who needless to say have set up expensive dinner parties and fancy rally's to gain financial support to the political parties to run for office from the big oil companies. Thats why nothing ever gets done about the price.

I have two solutions for this.
1)Big oil companies think like Walmart. The more you sell the cheaper the price.
2)Shut down the world. What do I mean you ask.

Its easy. No one drives for a couple of days...world wide. No one goes into work. No one does anything. By not working it shuts down the economy to a dead stop of which sends a pretty strong message to our government. Not only will the citizens be complaining but so will millions of business's that have lost valuable profits and work for that time period. So it kind of has a butterfly effect.

Dont go to work=no sales/manufacturing/production of anything=no dollars being entered for taxes/profits=stock pile of fossil fuels=savings for the people. Not to mention the world governments getting the message and it states "we are tired but not weak, do not think that we the people are meak".

Take a stand people. Don't allow big business and profits rule us.

Oil, I have heard, hasent acctually gone up in prices, and there is no less of oil that we had in the 70's, they just charge more for oil just because they can. There is no sortage of oil, they just charge more because they can. =P ( This Coming From A 12 Yr Old )
