Not PC to say "Merry Christmas"???

My youngest goes to a parochial school and my oldest goes to public school. It's amazing that people respond with "Happy Holidays" vice "Merry Christmas" because they don't want to be rude.

I think I need to get one of those buttons that says "It's okay to say Merry Christmas to me".

Lol yer i need one of those badges aswell, tho im safe because i go to a school which was created to supply the local church with singers so most people are christian. It a bit stupid you cant say merry christmas without being rude but there you go thats what this world is coming to.

I say Merry christmas, if they dont like it, Go back to your country. I dont mean to sound arragont or obnoxious but North America was founded on Christianity and Catholocism. It's great that you want to come here and better your life, Who wouldn't? But I think tradition should be rememberd. In Vancouver Island this women had her son going to a Public school and she pulled the child out of school and filed a lawsuit because the teacher happend to be doing christmas activities around X-mas time. Now in the lawsuit she wanted i think 10,000 and for the school to pay for a Rabi to come into the class and do a prayer with her single child...... CRAZY. Although christmas techincally is a false holliday (I am christian but yet I call it false) it still should be celebrated. If your Muslim celebrate your holliday! If your Jewish Happy honica Lechime (however it's spelt) If your a johova witness..... I give blood transfusions. lol.


There should be no offense to anyone elses religion, do remember they still celebrate the religions holliday, but they just dont like the name.

Is it just me or does everyone seem a little nicer to everyone at Christmas time . Here in Canada...for me getting up Christmas morning with the ground all covered with a deep blanket of snow , and watching my kids open their gifts is irreplacable .The smell of turkey being cooked by my wife and the sound of Christmas carrols in the house is magic to me . I am 55 years old , yet somehow in some small way Christmas makes me feel like 10 years old again back home with my Mon and Dad .

A huge mis-conception in most parts of the world however is what Christmas is really celebrating . It is not the birth of Jesus Christ that took place December 25th , as the little scenes we see everywhere with the camels and Mary in the stable and the three wise men depict . The gifts are kids open and ourselves on Christmas morning , represent the "The Gift" of "God" being with us . He gave "Himself" as this gift to all of us believers and non-belivers alike . You don't have to open a gift or accept a gift , but we all got this wonderful gift just the same .Now we give others gifts to celebrate this greatest gift of all.

By studying Luke Chapter 1 of The New Testament , we see that Mary that day on Dec 25th ran to tell her cousin Elizabeth about the good news ,how the Lord had told her she was with child . As she approached her cousin Elizabeth who was pregnant already herself 6 months , the baby lept in Elizabeths womb at the presence of Jesus Christ aproaching . This is how we know for sure that a baby is a living person the very second it is conceived and that abortion really is "MURDER" .This happens 5 million times a year in the U.S. alone and it is not right .

We all know who Elizabeth gave birth too, "John The Baptist . He would be the one to prepare the way for the Lord as the Bible teaches us . He was older then Jesus and this is proven when we take a close look at the "Course Of The Priest "Abias" .

This "course" is the things done at certain times of the year by the High Priest in the temple . By understanding what stage of this "Course" the High Priest " was involved in we can pin-point Christ's birth to September 29 and his conception to Dec 25th .

This is a study I would recommend any believer to pursue .

Celebrating Christ at Christmas is a perfectly fine and wonderful thing do do each year .It is His conception that we are actually celebrating....Man has added the "little baby in the manger" and "all the Christmas carrols associated with that" however....Jesus never told us too celebrate His Birthday and he did not abserve it Himself nor any of the Apostles .

I feel any day is a good day we thing of Christ and the price he suffered for us on the cross , surely comes to mind when we celebrate His comming among men at His conception.

For me Christmas is the most special time of year for my family and it always has been ...It is when God , himself came to us , just as we are born of women . This is why His name was "Emanuel" -which means "God With Us" .

Tracer is it not true that no one really does know the birth of christ. Although it is celebrated on X-mas day is it his true birthday. politically correct or not, i think it is within everyones rights to say merry christmas, happy hanukkah, or w/e their religion is... so if your a news caster and your christian or celebrate christmas... say merry christmas... this is just stupid... i HIGHLY DOUBT that someone jewish person is walking around then hears merry christmas and then freaks out and writes a letter to the editor... like give me a freakin break :|

Good question seroone .....We can actually pinpoint Christ's birth almost to the day with the original Aramaic writings that have been found concerning the time of year the Jewish priest's carried out their "courses" .These course "although I'm not a learned expert on Jewish tradition" were carried out at certain times . The original manuscripts refer to "The Course Of Abia" We call this in English "The Course of Abias ...properly translated....Here I will give you our King James documentation to more clearly see and understand this course of priests .....

"THE COURSE OF ABIA" (Luke 1:5).
This was the eighth of the priestly courses of ministration in the Temple (I Chronicles 24:10), and occurred, as did the others, twice in the year.

The "Courses" were changed every week, beginning each with a Sabbath. The reckoning commenced on the 22nd day of Tisri or Ethanim (Ap. 51. 5). This was the eighth and last day of the Feast of Tabernacles = the "Great Day of the Feast" (John 7:37), and was a Sabbath (Lev. 23:39)

The first course fell by lot to Jehoiarib, and the eighth to Abia or Abijah or Abias in English (1Chron. 24:10).

Bearing in mind that all the courses served together at the three Great Feasts, the dates for the two yearly "ministrations" of Abiah will be seen to fall as follows:

The first (*1) ministration was from 12 - 18 Chisleu = December 6 - 12.
The second ministration was from 12 -18 Sivan = June 13 - 19.

The announcement therefore to Zacharias in the Temple as to the conception of John the Baptist took place between 12 - 18 SIVAN (June 13 -19), in the year 5 B.C. After finishing his "ministration", the aged priest "departed to his own house" (Luke 1:23) which was in a city (*2) in "the hill country" of Juda (verse 39).

The day following the end of the "Course of Abia" being a Sabbath (Sivan 19), he would not be able to leave Jerusalem before the 20th.

The thirty miles journey would probably occupy, for an old man, a couple of days at least. He would therefore arrive at his house on the 21st or 22nd. This leaves ample time for the miraculous "conception" of Elizabeth to take place on or about the 23rd of Sivan (*3) - which would correspond to June 23 -24 of that year. The fact of the conception and it's date would necessarily be known at the time and afterwards, and hence the 23rd of SIVAN would henceforth be associated with the conception of John the Baptist as the 1st of TEBETH would be with that of our Lord.
Note : Elizabeth was pregnant 6 months with John The Baptist when Mary approached her with the news of ...her conception....
June 23 Plus 6 months - 2 days lost in our calendar since the conversion...So ya pretty accurate but not absolutley accurate ..Could be off by one day at the most ....This makes Jesus 9 month term -- birth September 29th ...

I'm sorry if it appears I take things too deep , for some but as a servant of our Heavenly Father , I must be about His work.....and try at least to teach the real truth and not what man has made appear as such .I love to answer questions about the Bible in a non-denominational environment , not polluted by man and his weak concepts concerning God .
What really happened in the Garden Of Eden ? For example is the most dramatic and eye opening event I feel in the entire old testament.Unless one really understands what happened in that Garden..They are already on the wrong path concerning the Bible .

Let me just keep this short and say this one last thing...Eve DID NOT eat a silly apple and learn good from evil....She was "beguiled by the serpent" ---- Beguiled in the HEBREW means "Wholly Seduced" . I f we look at this event with our eyes open we can see by what God's punishment to the serpent was in "Genesis Chapter 3 Verse 15 "

And I will put enmity (HATE) between thee and the woman , (READ CAREFULLY HERE) , and between thy seed and her seed ; it shall bruise thy head , and thou shalt bruise his heel . Please understand SEED = CHILDREN or OFFSPRING . Now lets look at what Cain did to his brother Abel ....Also note: Cain is not in Adam's geneology or lineage anywhere in the Bible...Cain was not Adams son .
