CS:S a spectator sport?

ok this really bugging me what's with everyone enjoying spec on very popular servers? Example commongrounds... I had to wait 15 minutes to get in the other day. And as soon as I get in there's 3 people spec....they actually didnt join spec but if your afk get out of the server -_- I kicked them after that and 3 more people connected. Now the admins speccing for rounds and rounds even hours on zm3 be careful! Play the damn game if you want to chat talk in vent as you know who you are and are in vent. Or use steam I don't need the discusions going on in admin chat and people being forced to wait cause you want to chat in spec. Taking up valuable slots. And as soon as I said you need to join a team you left... LOL? It's fine to spec 1-3 rounds especially zm to get to see what players are doing. But over an hour... Give me a break. Not to mention those admins aren't doing their job. So be very careful. As one day you might be going in to not having admin

Oh and if your come back is I don't my job as a zombie when I play cause that one day you decided to tell me to knife the humans, I wish I could but my mouse buttons weren't working so I took that comeback away rawr! Ready for others

And admin to admin chat is designed for just that. If you don't like the conversation don't read it. No one else on the server can

Also, people ARE allowed to join spec if going AFK for a round or two that's what it's there for and it's better than sitting "in game" unmoving and causing their team to be a man down.

Now if it happens to be longer than a "couple" of rounds then the AFK kicker will get them or, if none, then you can ask the specs to join a side and kick...but only if the server is full.....

Also if an admin is in spec how do you know they're not doing there job no matter what the "chat" messages say

Anyways first one I don't have a problem with an staff being spec for however long they need be. They might be checking up on admins etc.. I just don't see the point of an admin guest sitting spec for over an hour not only 1 admin btw and taking up slots for players that want to play. I wanted to play but couldn't get in at all. As In reply to number 2 I agree the people in common grounds weren't on speccing team. They connected but never joined spec, ct, or t. Those are the ones that I'm saying should leave. As very often are like that for a very long time if an admin isn't there. If you need to go to the bathroom I'm not going ask you to leave and come back.. That's what spec is for as for 3 idk if afk kicker works in commongrounds I never was kicked for being spec for a long time. And for 4 cause when I connected there was 3 or more people yelling into the mic. 5 or more on red crate, and 5 in closet and 1 in vents connected half into the round I wait your response eagerly too

Oh and for the admin chat msgs I'm not talking about not using it... That would be stupid to say. But to have conversations that are random things. And things other admins don't need to see I think steam would be useful....

I often sit in spec when doing my rounds. I don't "play" on every server, but I will sit and observe to make sure everything is ok. As I connect, I'll do ma_admins so that I know if there are admins on and who they are. Being new to this, I will admin chat only to them to say hi and get to know them a bit. They may ask me questions. They may just say hi....it's ok.

It's nice to see admins getting along on a personal note...it's like a family. It's ok to converse in private admin chat while doing their job. If you think they are not, or in any way abusing their admin, please record a demo and submit it. I've been doing my rounds and haven't seen much of anything that is considered a problem. It's ok to have a little fun!

I agree with most of what you said. I think people are getting the wrong understanding. It is under rant... Yes i took a few shots at people. But i could simply just name each person if i was really after that You are staff i don't have a problem with you being spec, and never had one with you cause you play I guess I'm seeing it from a regulars stand point. Having to wait to get in the server and to come to relize that admins are speccing for a LONG time (and in my mind and my eyes from what i saw) doing nothing. Also im not saying no one spec. I mean if your watching someone, im not going to tell you to get out of spec, even if you are a regular, as long as i when i warn regulars to join a team they admin private there speccing someone which at that point i might jump spec as well. As for getting to know admins how about getting to know the players?

When I join Common Grounds I have to join spec to record that known regular hacker called Drifter, and after a few rounds that noob kick me ! this happens to me so often
Let's open a new server for afk players only. It would be popular !

LOL!!! I NEVER kicked an admin. And i always warn players to join a team ^^ before i boot them. And i agree with the afk server. Every admin on common grounds should get client execute so we can send all those afk's that join and never pick a team to that server

P.S. I like how everyone has paragraphs and i have a mess....

I'm saying it's perfectly fine if admins are in spec because it could be for different reasons. When I stop playing my comp is off. I do not idle in any server. If I'm in spec, it may be because I'm spectating someone, eating or doing something else at my comp, or on the phone for a few minutes...I always keep an eye on what's happening though.

I understand that sometimes it can be frustrating when you can't get into a server because it's full.. I think the rant should be directed to players sitting in spec for an extended period of time, not guest admins.
