For US PS3 Owners -

I havn't heard much feedback on the Movie Download Service since E3 and wondered how people are finding it?

Is it updated on a regular basis and is it really a simple alternative to renting/buying DVDs/BD?

We still don't get it here in the UK and I was wondering it it might sway people over here to buy it over the XBox360.....

I get my DVD movies via Netflix so . . . I highly doubt if I will ever buy a movie digitally via PS Network or the Xbox Live service. I've downloaded some trialers of movies and games but that's about it.

My PS3 has a 80GB hard drive and it has something like 27GB free. I know it's easy enough to change out the HD but I think it's easier getting a movie on DVD and watch it on your desktop PC, PS3, DVD player, or laptop.

The other issue is that blue ray drive . . . I'm pretty happy with the regular DVDs. I received 5 free BD movies when I purchased the PS3 . . . picture looks good but I guess that's because I have SD TVs and haven't upgraded to HD. I don't see the reason to upgrade. I rented Metal Gear Solid 4 and was impressed with the graphics and details due to the blue ray drive.

Well it depends cuz you can easily transfer it to a psp as well if you buy it from the list. The rental list makes you update when they add more movies. As far as difference Pinnacle, you will notice a larger difference when you change to a hdtv. You will still not think too highly though until you hit a sizable tv that requires hd to keep the quality.

Games won't matter as most only run at 720p anyhow. It is only on the movies that you will see the true quality difference and in audio for BR disc. I haven't really downloaded any movies via ps3 only due to the fact that you can't buy HD yet.

It's difficult to justify a HD TV with the wife when the two SD TVs are working fine. Bummer!

Let me convince her. I have a good way of getting people to believe that they should get it even if they don't need it. Like I could get her to buy size 26 shoes for the rest of the year for no reason.

Netflix is comming to Xbox 360 this fall

The people running the current video rentals on the 360 is Netflix. They are just going to modify how it is done. Currently they only do like 20 movies a month or something from what I heard.

nope they are keeping Xbox live marketplace movies and adding netflix

Ya the XBL Marketplace has tons of movies. As to the netflix I am currently using my 360 as a netflix steaming player now. What is coming out this fall is a change so that I wont have to go through my computers media player using special software to get it to work.

ON TOPIC:
I have been wondering about this movie download service for my PS3 since the E3 anouncment, and I have heard nothing... Currently the PS3 has very little to offer in this area. The 360 has a GREAT selection, but all you get is the convenience of not having to run to the rental store. They tend to be the same price or more expensive than the local rental store. Netfilx is like dirt cheap. I tend to pay 1/3 of the price per movie than the local rental store. It takes about 4 days between ovies though.

So I am eager to know how the PS3 will fit in the market. Like XBL? Or will they do something different.

I like to watch movies a lot. I have 'rented' from XBL and was rather happy with how they did it. I have netflix and I am kinda 'meh' as they do not have as good a selection as XBL. What will the PS3 bring to the table?...
