This is not a very offensive word, it depends on the context. Nothing much to say about it , it's really old-fashioned for people who speaks French, not sure I used that word in the last 10 years !

he's right on the money with that one. Minet, when used as a pet name means "kitten". Minou means "kitty" (usually as a male, but can be used for both) , and Minoune as a female cat. However, if you tell a girl you like her Minoune.... or would like to do things to it, lol then you're being a big pervert.

I think it can also be sweetie like salut minet means hello sweety or thats what my french teacher told me however she doesnt rele speak anglish at all so may b wrong on that
