Hi Girls!!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month here in the US. Just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone to make sure to do a self-check monthly and get checked yearly by your doctor. You need a mammogram once a year if you are over 40. If breast cancer runs in your family, you need to start having them earlier. Breast cancer is highly a highly treatable disease if it is caught early.

Also, please help support finding a cure for breast cancer. Just the other day, I bought a pink ribbon (pin), that I proudly wear to work every day. It was a $1 donation. My principal now wants to get them for the faculty to wear (for those that want to participate).

My grandmother passed last year from breast cancer and I am a recovering patient of cervical cancer following treatment over 11 years which resulted in major surgery.

I know the pain and fear of diagnosis, coping with treatment and watching a much loved relative lose her life to this *words fail me* disease.

Regular checks might save your life, so that goes for the smear tests too ladies! Don't think its something that happens to everyone else and not yourself. Life is precious, embrass and respect it for you never know what might be lurking just around that corner.

wow Alpha, I didn't know you used to have cancer I'm glad to hear you're doing okay now though <3.

In my family, no one close to me has ever had cancer, but I really hope it stays that way. As for breast cancer, my mom's aunt had it, and she's now recovered and doing good.

On my way to becoming a mom, it's been told to me that if I breastfeed my kid, it reduces my chances of getting breast cancer (and it's the best nutrition you can give your newborn). So, I'm totally gonna take that advice into consideration, for it's many benefits.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Breast Cancer. They have been working for 25 years to educate woman and fund research in the hopes of curing this disease.

My uncle passed away from colin cancer, they found it when it was far too late. He was like 24 when he was diagnosed, passed away when he was like 27. He was forced to leave his wife and his unborn daughter. Needless to say it really really sucked. This was like 6 years ago

Thankfully though my aunt has since managed to find someone that can love my cousin as if she was his own and they have had another child. My grandparents (my uncle's parents) approve of him and are happy that she found someone that loves her and her baby girl. This was like 3-4 years ago
