As a girl/woman, how has your gaming experience on the spawnpoint servers been?

Just wanted to know what your gaming experience has been like on the spawnpoint servers! Mine has been very positive! Of course you'll get an ocassional "tool" (as some of the guys call them), that gives you or tries to give you a hard time. I find most of the people are very accepting of girls playing beside them.. You'll also get the occassional "What?!?!?! A girl is playing?!?!?! ....Where is she??? Is she hot???" kind of thing. I have regulars that call me ma'am, miss pwnzer ...! I think it's hysterical! It's all in good fun!

Pwnzer, I know exactly what you mean lol. From my personal experience with Spawnpoint, if it wasn't for the really cool people I've met, and who've been really kind and respectful to me throughout my "adjustment period" to CS:S, I wouldn't still be here today. I started playing on an old SP server that Starlog used to run, and became a regular there. I made some good friends there, including Mr. Starlog, and he let me try being admin there. It was my first admin experience, and I really enjoyed it.

The really funny story behind that time was, that everytime a "tool" (as pwnzer so well described it lol), would start hitting on me, or picking on me, Starlog would pretend to be my dad, and scare the !@#$ out of them lol. It was hilarious because they actually believed it. So I guess you could say that the regulars there were like my little online family at the time lol (no pun intended ).

After a while, I was asked if I was interested to write for spawnpoint.com about my experiences as a gamer chick, to talk about the other side of gaming and gender . I thought it was an interesting idea, and a challenge, so I took on the job and started writing my "A Gamer Girl's Diary".

I really love SP servers because they stand on a good foundation of rules and ethics. I really love how they are all about respect, diversity, and having fun. I very seldom wander around on other servers than SP, because I get harassed alot on the internet when people find out I'm a girl, and I guess I do find SP to be a "safe zone" in some ways.

Mine has also been positive, but that's because most people don't know I'm a girl ^^. I get called a dude most of the time, but that's just fine by me. I don't use my mic either just because I don't want to be bothered to have to answer any questions I don't like.

I haven't really gotten into the gaming side of SP yet, but the times I have tried to play have been very positive. I use the same screen name in game as I do here, so I get asked as soon as I sign into a game if I am "Ask Nikki". I do want to learn how to play CS:S, and as soon as I get a new set of headphones I'm planning on taking another shot at it.

Nikki, I really need to learn how to play reg css too...only practice 10 minutes at a time here and there! Sapphi, maybe I'll come in to the evolutiongaming server when I get a little more comfortable with css.

Cokes: You shouldn't be afraid to use your mic. The regulars in zm1 are pretty cool. They ALL know you're a girl and never harass you. As far as anyone else. you may get an occasional remark here or there, but we have a lot of support from our friends. Beisdes, good time to stand up for yourself...either ignore or let them know that you do not share any personal information! You're not alone! <3

I can vouch for that. I told Nat to save up and buy a tank (you know with armour and tracks) and it took her a while to realise i was joking

If my in game name isn't pms.SaPpHiRe_TeH_NiNjA<3, and my account is playing on other servers, that's because I'm letting friends play with it when they come at my place. The only servers I play on myself, are evolutiongaming, and the commongrounds (in EU).
