RE: Lan Party

Hello fellow gamers, i am currently working on a project for a lan party. it would most likely run from saturday afternoon to sunday afternoon. it would be in a building that i did the internet network for. it will most likely be "Bring your own computers" the computers their are not great for gaming. it will be located in white plains NY. the grand prize will depend on the amount of people that show. i want to do it within the next few weeks or months. please post and let me know what you guys think.

I just don't like the idea of "bring your own computers" because that gives others an advantage if they have a better computer.

im not saying you have to stay there for 13 hours, but there would be a grand prize for a first place and second place.

I live on the other side of the border. Just a few hours away from NY driving distance. So i'll think about it.

I'd love to and all..but I'm a lazy non-driving moocher who still lives with my mommy.... Maybe I'll have my license by then. Till that time it's just me sitting "alone" in the dark playing zm3 (or 2 when someone's on) (or somewhere else if I feel like it) till the sun comes up.
Great idea though, I give you that.

Ive been lan gaming for years, in fact, im a professional admin, One thing I will tell you is always bring your own PC.

Ive been in the lan party business for around 10 years now, Ive seen everything there is to see at a lan, Ive had more custom gaming rigs than any human should own. its sad.

Anyways, be careful hosting these in a place of business, Ive had that come back to bite me in the arse before because face it, some people arent mature enough to be without parental supervision for more than a minute at a time.


if you dont mind me asking, what kind of switches does this place use?

Bring your own computer for the win...leave the older pc's in the dust ftw.

Lan partys are awsome but I live in FL. Keep it up post in local areas or soemthing colleges even. Some place close so people can come to your lan.

ohh Why... FL is only a 2hr flight or so. i was looking forward to having a majority of SP members coming so we could have just a SP contest so that we can brag about it on the forums.
